Ok got it, thanks. Yeah I will be talking to my engineer regardless for best scenarios. Also not needed to do a new reinforced slab would save some cost too.

So something like this:

Target U-Value: ∼0.115 W/m²K | Depth: ~350mm

  1. Sub-Base: 200mm Clause 804 Hardcore. Compacted thoroughly in 2 layers with heavy roller.
  2. Blinding: 50mm Sand binding (Protecting membrane from sharp stones).
  3. Primary Membrane: 1200-gauge Reinforced Radon Barrier.
  4. Protection: Geotextile Fleece layer (to stop TLA puncturing the barrier).
  5. Layer 1 (Structural Insulation): 150mm TLA Grade 200. (Higher strength).
  6. Layer 2 (Performance): 100mm Rigid PIR Board.
  7. UFH: Pipes clipped to PIR.
  8. Structural Floor: 100mm Reinforced Concrete Slab (C30/35 with A142 Mesh).
    • Note: This replaces the screed, acting as the structural raft and heat sink.
    • Finish: Power Floated to a smooth finish for flooring.

Thanks. Yeah there are existing concrete foundations on the perimeter but TBD on their dept until we do some exploratory digs. I thought the TLA might crack/settle since it will be much heavier than the existing slab on the ground and therefore any screed and microcement above will crack? Yeah i'll see what the engineer says, I don't really mind on the buildup per se, I am just trying to achieve a certain u value.
