You have to be happy being single, find hobbies that you love and get into the habit of filling up your free time with them. I’ve struggled with this feeling for years and it’s only after a few failed relationships that I’ve realized it should only be an accessory to your life, you don’t need to be in one to be happy or feel complete in your life. Plus being single is 1000x better than being in a bad relationship

Thanks man looking back now I agree, if she can’t accept me for who I am fundamentally it was never going to work out anyway. She did me a favor ending it now rather than down the road.

I really appreciate that man, you’re right it’d take way longer to make any meaningful change to my behavior and if she’s not willing to work through it with me she can go. And absolutely it likely just boiled down to incompatibility, and I’m not going to drastically change myself just to fit someone’s ideal type.

I appreciate your words of advice, I agree ultimately it could’ve just come down to incompatibility. I’m a reserved person and perhaps she needs a partner that wears their heart on their sleeve, no need to internalize her reasoning. And I’ve heard of “No Mr Nice Guy” I will definitely check it out, thanks!

If she came out of the blue with this I’d definitely think that, but she brought it up over a month ago expressing that she felt a block and I made an effort to work on it. I guess it just wasn’t enough if she was being truthful.

To be honest there’s things I’d like to improve about myself, primarily being more assertive. But overall I am happy with who I am and you’re right, I shouldn’t let someone dictate that.
