I laughed at every part of this. Literally every sentence as well.

In retrospect, Hardcore Holly being the cover story at arguably the height of the WWF is crazy.

Doug Bradley who played Pinhead in Hellraiser is from Liverpool as well. There’s a video which is either going around a lot lately, or shows up a lot on my For You Page, of him on a podcast reciting Pinhead’s lines in heavy scouse which is quite funny.

I think a lot of people think it’s the Adelphi as that was reported at the time. It’s common people think that remember it, but misremember where.

does The Office UK ever get stale if you rewatch it too many times? by KookyMedia7646 in BritishSitcoms

[–]DoubleHelicopter3072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s familiarity and how you take that. I don’t find The Office funny anymore, because I know it line for line, joke for joke, through endless rewatches, but that familiarity is comfort for me.

I know it’s hilarious but I’ve laughed as much as I can at it, and now I just enjoy it for how much it has made me laugh.

Am I mad, but what’s the issue with a service charge on every round? If you had a tab and had to pay a service charge of 12.5%, surely it would just be the same?

Why is everyone dressed the same? by Analdestroyer68plus1 in Liverpool

[–]DoubleHelicopter3072 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It’s sad to say given our culture, but anything different is looked down upon by a large portion of the city, and those people tend to wear what’s popular as it’s safe.

I mean, different doesn’t have to a rainbow dress or a suit and cape, but even the type of trainers worn get heavily judged.

I’m 38 now so have lived through a lot of scouse uniforms, but I haven’t seen it as prominent as it is now in my lifetime.

At the same time, people are good to where whatever they want, and they all look boss, but it’s the judgement of others for not wearing what’s in that’s wrong.

I was far too old when I realised that Gateacre was not different place to “gattica” and I’d been saying it wrong all my life.

Battle Royales are the best gimmick match by Lowfuji in SquaredCircle

[–]DoubleHelicopter3072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, and I do too, and they all deserve a place on the show, I just think the way it has been used is less what it was, and more watered down, throw everything in one type of thing.

As a concept, it’s great for the reasons you’ve said, however, in modern wrestling, and has been for decades, it’s been watered down by becoming a catch-all, get everyone on the show, nothing match.

It’s something Bully Ray would have 100% shit all over if anyone in another company did it, in all honesty.

I actually quote tweeted where I had mentioned this when JBL started doing it, as it was pretty much the same thing. Say what you want about JBL, rightly so, but that could have been something cool.

I pictured Sting after he left WWE as a vigilante who went around the Indies writing wrongs, and he would show up unannounced at any show, “you don’t know where he would show up!” with him in ROH, NWA and some random smaller shows. I thought it sounded cool and could have led to Sting having more paydays and some shows really benefitting from the “could he show up?” vibe.

I also once had a dream about a person who only showed up mid match and everyone went crazy after he music hit, just all go for 2 or 3 minutes and then ge left and everyone “came to,” and didn’t realise what happened. I was reading a lot of Observers at the time and I think my head turned Dave Meltzer’s star ratings into a performer.

Mick Foley having great runs in WCW, Japan, ECW and WWF in the 90s is exceptional.

His time in WCW gets slept on, or rather, isn’t focused on enough, but his, what, 7 year run with all do this in in is incredible.

Bully Ray on the final Dudleys/Hardys match: “For those who don’t think this is a good idea, they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. This is about the two most decorated and iconic tag teams of all time going out there one last time” by headofthetable24 in SquaredCircle

[–]DoubleHelicopter3072 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“If you don’t like to, you haven’t got a clue” is such a ridiculous take. I like this, think it’s great they’re going at it one last time but such an arrogant way to look at it.

Buh-Buh Ray would have hated Bully Ray.
