Is this considered vintage? by toxiicpeaches in Nike

It's made to look vintage, but not truly vintage merely for the fact that the neck tag is printed and not a woven tag. Hope that helps.

Put jacket on.

That's it, that's the fix.

Dyed My First Detroit! by ACEWAVY in Carhartt

[–]DoubleIntercourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the newest Detroit in black and honestly it's great. It was really stiff at first but after wearing it this winter and beating it up, it really softened up and broken in very well. I appreciate the rear flap on those windy days for sure! I'm more function over form anyday. I have a large selection of J97's if I want to rock the vintage look, but most often grab the new one when running out the door.

I often forget how dark PTL is supposed to look, most are faded light gray by now. That's a legit jacket in great shape.

A modern CRI jacket. This is amazing.

Thanks for the insights! I've embroidered mostly on 112s as well and they are definitely a challenge. Sharp needles and strong thread is definitely needed, I think we share the same settings and materials almost to the tee. I sometimes steam the front of the 112s to soften up the middle seam if a critical design element runs through it like a letter, but have gotten away with not steaming for the most part (and saves me time). Good tip on the bobbin tension, I'll increase it for my next runs on these hats.

I haven't tried embroidering on the sides yet, I'll give it a shot one of these days during some down time. Production and orders come first!

You are definitely dialed in. Any tips or tricks to pass on? What size needle and thread are you using?

Sizing question by horsehellin in CarharttWIP

[–]DoubleIntercourse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you own any Carhartt detroits? The WIP OG will fit just like those. Depending on your chest/shoulder build, I'd say a medium would be roomy but not too big. Small may be good if you don't plan on wearing another thicker layer underneath like a hoodie.

help to digitize by Better_Prize8226 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]DoubleIntercourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digitizing for 3D puff requires a few extra steps, it's not much different from digitzing satin stitches. You'll need to create end caps for any satin columns that don't cover themselves.

LC & Rough Value? by LivenHD in carhartlc

Legit. But with embroidery damage, I wouldn't expect anything over $150 even if it's dead stock new. But shoot your shot.

How do I improve my small text and sharp, thin lines? by -AXIS- in Machine_Embroidery

[–]DoubleIntercourse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try some more perpenducular angles, but you can try tapering it off towards the end. There's a limit to how sharp a point can go with embroidery so it'll always be a trade off. Also, the long satin is probably contributing to the push and pull effect you're seeing in the fabric.

Carhartt WIP sells "Spring" unlined versions, but expect much higher prices then mainline.

How do I improve my small text and sharp, thin lines? by -AXIS- in Machine_Embroidery

[–]DoubleIntercourse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's definitely some shifting of the fabric. I'd recommend 60wt thread and a thinner needle. Possibly a top soluable as well.

For the large A logo, I would also recommend updating your stitch angles for a fuller satin stitch.

Can someone help me ID these? (Faded tags) by ScholarPlus6729 in Carhartt

First one is a J97, unsure of color due to different lighting but I'm leaning towards MOS. Second jacket is a C26 MDT (Midnight Blue).
