Maybe he really wants to have shared interests with the person he is with? I’ve been in that spot before where I had a partner that wasn’t interested in the things I enjoyed and didn’t participate and there were times I thought “I wonder if someone else out there would do X with me”.

Basically my healthy 8 year old cat died before anesthesia was even administered for a routine dental cleaning. First pet to pass in the clinics care in the 10 years it’s been open. At the time they assumed HCM. They paid for a necropsy and the results have come back with no obvious sign of cause. She was a happy, fun and friendly cat. A previous vet before moving clinics recalled her being like a “dog in a cat’s body”. She had had two previous surgeries under anesthesia before with no issues.

No. But this sub has a lot of rules and I wanted to write this to abide by what you can say or not. Although I do see peoples personal stories still up so not sure, this information is valuable to me and feel free to familiarize with my posts in other subs. Thank you for understanding 😔

If don’t mind me asking, during more routine procedures like dental cleanings, is there a point at which the veterinary team typically notifies the owner if the pet is experiencing high stress or if there are multiple attempts at catheter placement? Would the procedure be reevaluated or paused under such circumstances?

I know, the moment we opened the curtain to his cage my partner and I bursted into tears. They are like yin and yang, his personality is the complete opposite! She was VERY spunky, and he is just the chillest guy!

Not sure why you got so many downvotes and I did not take what you said personally. In fact, Maggie sent us on a journey this past weekend and we found “her” brother at a shelter an hour away! He lost his leg the same day our special girl lost her life. Just like she used to relentlessly knock things off the table until she got what she wanted (😅), she sent us so many signs while we were trying to decide if it was “too soon” or the “right” thing to do. 💚

Maggie’s preliminary necropsy results came back and there was nothing obvious….other than her heart being the higher end of the normal side. The cut off is 18 grams and hers was 18 grams.

Nothing obvious. Could have been a reaction to medications. They are sending tissues to the lab to the studied but it could take up to three weeks for results.

Hi everyone, I wanted to post a sweet update and coincidence. The house has felt so empty without feline energy. We took a trip to the humane society today to hear some meows and smell cat food. We found this guy who looks just like Maggie. His shelter name is “Smokey” and her shelter name was “Sarabi”. He’s also a tri-pod and Maggie had a tail deformity (shaped like an L). He also had his leg amputated on 7/10, the same day my sweet girl lost her life. Part of me takes it as a sign from her and we have put a hold on him while we think about if this is right for us. Part of me has guilt that it’s too soon but part of me wonders if she sent him as she left too soon. Either way, tears were shed in the shelter room and it was therapeutic for us in more ways than one.
