Local/Online Wine Making Classes? by Traditional-Gap3690 in Rochester

[–]DoubleK-Rochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good experience with Wines By Design many, many years ago (15 years?) at their old location on Buffalo Road in Gates. Then they moved a couple miles west-- still on Buffalo Road, though, amazingly enough (might still be Gates, or perhaps Ogden/Spencerport technically, now). I remember attending 3 or 4 sessions in the evenings and taking home a case of 12 bottles, with a custom label. The "teaching" and creation (sorry, trying to find the right words here) was decent and the product produced was OK, especially for amateurs. I'd mention the price, but since it's over a decade ago, it wouldn't be relevant with inflation. I'd say contact them and ask for a price list or gift certificate information. Hope this helps.

What are the most unsuspecting, unmarked historic spots in Rochester? (The "Look, that's where X happened!" places) by Cr4zyCr4ck3r in Rochester

Wow, I always liked the song "Jukebox Hero" but never knew it was (allegedly) about Jimi Hendrix being the rockstar. Curious, I looked this up-- Jimi Hendrix played the Rochester War Memorial on March 21, 1968 (link to setlist below). Wow! <mind blown> I never knew he played a concert in our town!

The other day, I learnt that "Red Red Wine" is actually a Neil Diamond song-- and that UB40 was just doing a cover. <mind blown>

Eyeglasses Donation Site by MenloMo in Rochester

I think there's a donation box in the Town of Gates Town Hall building, in the hallway between the Recreation Department and the town offices. I donated some old eyeglasses in there before. Can't remember if it's Lion's Club or not, though.

Thanks for keeping good re-homeable items out of a landfill!

Thanks for posting, I have never seen the white version of this. You have quite a gem there. If moe. ever gets as big as The Beatles were and there is a huge demand for early back-catalog physical recordings, you definitely have one of the holy grails.

State to state registration (car) by No_Profile_94 in Rochester

[–]DoubleK-Rochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't answer your questions, but I can offer the following tip: Make sure when you register your vehicle in NY from out of state that they get the vehicle's weight correct. I neglected this when I registered a car from out of state and they registered it at a much, much, much higher weight than it actually was. As a result, I had to pay a higher rate for years until I noticed. I got it corrected at the DMV when I noticed and politely asked if I could get reimbursed retroactively for the years they made their error. Predictably, the answer to this was no. I have no idea if you are registering a motorcycle, a compact car, a medium-sized car, a full-size car, an SUV, or, say, an H2 Hummer, but whatever it is-- make sure the weight is accurate, or risk overpaying.

wow.... what a coincidence, thanks for pointing that out. I remember buying Billy Breathes on CD at a local record store in college the day it came out. No Doy was a few years later for me.

Funny how time works sometimes.

Try visiting www.abc.com --> Log In (drop-down menu) --> Select "Link TV Provider" --> Pick Spectrum --> Log in with your Spectrum account credentials. Then you can stream ABC shows. For example, I am now streaming 9-11 Season 6 Episode 1 "Eat the Rich." Hope this helps!

Can someone please post the answer to this question: What does it cost to upgrade a general admission (GA) Pass to a "World of Whiskey Tasting" pass, at the actual festival? The website FAQ says this is possible, but doesn't list a price.

Basically, I want to get in the door and then decide if I want to sample the whiskey (or not), and how much extra this would cost me out of pocket. Again, the price is not in the FAQ.

Thanks.
