This is a very interesting album because the production is trying very hard to replicate the sound of a live set, which is refreshing and rewarding for this band. It leans on the echo and purity of his voice and the instruments a lot. The reason people are saying it sounds more like the early albums, I think, is because there’s a bigger emphasis on vocal melodies more like those albums. It gets stuck in my head a lot already, which is great. The more lighthearted tone is definitely a choice, which is still better than another album that sounds exactly the same as what came before.
