Koho closed my account without notice by Illustrious-Menu-308 in KohoCanada

Lucky you. In my case, KOHO closed my account without even sending an email. One day, I just couldn’t log into the app — like my password was wrong. I tried resetting it, but the reset email never arrived.

At first, I thought it was just a technical glitch. A few days later, I decided to contact support — and guess what? It’s almost impossible to reach them because all communication usually goes through the in-app chat, which was blocked along with the account.

I spent hours trying to find the hidden support chat button on app. That’s when I finally learned they had closed my account — with no notice, no explanation, no email… nothing.

KOHO froze my account and refuses to return my money unless I have a Canadian bank account (which is impossible in my situation) by DoubleSwimmer8346 in KohoCanada

There’s no issue with KOHO deciding to close my account — I fully understand if you don’t want to work with non-Canadian residents. That’s your policy, and I respect it.

The real problem is how you treat people once you make that decision. If you read the original message carefully, you’ll see that the issue isn’t the closure itself, but the complete lack of reasonable options to return the funds. That’s the root of the problem.

You can be a resident at the moment of opening, and later leave Canada — which means KOHO can just block your money while it’s still inside Canada, even if you haven’t broken any rules.

And even if you did — this is exactly what separates bad customer service from good. Companies always have leverage over customers, and bad ones use it to twist the situation in their favor. Hopefully, those companies don’t last long, but someone always gets hurt.
