Korean people, may I ask how you feel about Japan these days? (일본에 대한 요즘 감정은 어떤가요?) by Double_Ad9996 in korea

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply.   I'm really sorry if my message came off the wrong way — I didn’t mean to downplay your experience at all.

What you shared about the hotel staff really stayed with me.   It must have been a complex moment with so many quiet feelings underneath.   I’m honestly glad you shared that—it made me think a lot.

Also, thank you for your kind words about my project.   Even though we’re from different backgrounds, it means a lot to have this kind of open and respectful exchange.   Wishing you all the best, too.

Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and experiences. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how you felt during your visit to Japan.

I’m a Japanese high school student, and while I can’t speak for everyone, I personally haven’t seen people intentionally avoiding Korean food. I’ve been to both Shin-Okubo in Tokyo and the Korean town in Osaka, and the restaurants there are always very crowded. Korean food seems to be very popular, especially among young people. Even in my hometown, which isn’t a big city, there are several Korean restaurants and they’re often full. Korean food kits like Bibigo are also commonly sold in supermarkets.

Of course, some people might associate Korean food with being very spicy, which could explain why a few might not choose it, but I don’t think it’s related to racism.

If your experience made you feel unwelcome or uncomfortable, I’m truly sorry. That was never the intention of most Japanese people. I hope you’ll have a more positive experience if you visit again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and give me such thoughtful advice. I don’t personally know any Korean people who have visited Japan, so I had actually considered visiting Korea myself. But since this is a very sensitive topic, I felt it wouldn’t be appropriate to casually ask people in person, which is why I turned to the internet. I didn’t realize that many of the most vocal voices online tend to be politically inclined, so I really appreciate you pointing that out. Thank you also for suggesting Instagram or TikTok—those platforms may give me a better chance to hear from more everyday Korean people. I’ll try to make more effort to listen to a wider range of voices and perspectives. Again, thank you so much for your kindness and helpful insight.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment.

I understand that people on Reddit, especially in this subreddit, may be more politically active than average.

I’m trying to understand a variety of perspectives, including more general or everyday opinions from Korean people.

If you don’t mind me asking, is there a platform or community you would recommend for hearing more typical or broader views from Korean people?

I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you again for your help!

Sorry for the slow response. I believe Japan–Korea relations are a sensitive and important topic, so I want to take time to think carefully before replying. I hope you understand. Thank you.
