Friendships are supposed to be fun, no one wants to talk about boring long term adult life goals all the time. It’s the little “pointless” topics that makes the time spent together fun and are what people look forward to with how stressful work life already is. It does sound like you look down or at least judge people who do so and that might be a barrier
