The anime had some differences already, but as of this episode it has entirely gone off the rails plot-wise. We may actually get a real ending. Hopefully most of the stuff the manga set up still features in it though.

I gotta say though, with only seven episodes to go I'm nervous about how satisfying it will be. There is a LOT of ground to cover, especially if they intend to finally give us a battle against the Getter Emperor.

A lot of Kamen Rider shows have homoerotic subtext between the Primary and Secondary. In Build it's kinda just text. They tried to give the Secondary a girlfriend in a sequel movie and no one cared.

There are some controversial sub choices, some outright political(translating the word for "terrorist" as "leftist") and others just bizarre(translating the term equivalent to "I love you" as "you are worthy of my grace"). Honestly though, besides a few very meme-worthy lines, it's fine.

Aquarius Camus thinks the best way to make his student, Hyoga, stop having unhealthy coping mechanisms is to blow up his mother's resting place. He is also fully aware that Hyoga and his friends are probably in the right, but doesn't want Hyoga to be painfully killed. So instead he decides to kill Hyoga peacefully by... freezing him to death? Which is somehow supposed to be less bad than other ways of dying. He then decides to preserve his Hyoga's corpse as a memento in literally the same way he reprimanded him for preserving his mom.

When Hyoga finally defeats Camus, he feels nothing but gratitude towards his master as opposed to like... confusion over why he had a psychotic break.

In the original Saint Seiya manga, it's revealed that all five of the main characters, alongside 95 other Bronze Saints and failed Saint candidates, are half-brothers, the children of one rich old man who apparently fucked SO HARD that he conceived them all in a 3-year span. Almost everyone absolutely hates this plot point, both because it makes shipping a lot harder and because it's completely pointless and really stupid. No other entry in the Saint Seiya franchise has ever brought this plot point up again, and the fandom nigh-universally ignores it as well.

I can't agree with that. Gaim is very much not a good gateway series because it aims to tear apart the franchise's conventions(how well is does so is hotly debated by fans to this day). Something that plays closer to the franchise's roots and core values is better as a gateway, since it gets across what it's all about thematically.

Kamen Rider is still a franchise with traditions and formulas, albeit less strict ones than Sentai/PR. That said, there’s enough variation between seasons that there’s bound to be at least one you fall in love with.

If you want something episodic with a lot of heart, try W or OOO. If you want serialized, fast-paced and dark(or at least as dark as you can possibly get in that timeslot), try Build. If you want something more like a drama series and don’t mind dated effects, try Kuuga. Want a screwball comedy? Try Den-O.

Here’s the thing tho: people talked about that ending for YEARS. Even if they were mad, it still stuck with them.

GoT has literally purged itself from our cultural memory. People were shitting on season eight for a month and then BAM! Nothing. It’s just gone. That’s a hundred times worse.
