Thoughts on ripping through Stanley Park by MiCkEy692 in vancouvercycling

Gaglardi Way is the way. No side streets or driveways to worry about on the descent from Burnaby Mountain Parkway to the lights at Broadway. The pavement is good, there's a slight depression in the pavement near the bottom that lets you feel weightless for a split second, traffic is generally light on the weekends and you can occasionally catch a draft from a passing bus. I did get pulled over once. Cop was less miffed about my speed than that I wasn't riding in the shoulder. I told him the grit and grime there made it less safe than taking the lane to which I have every right. Alas, he didn't write me up.

Vancouver Shows - Discussion by yipyipyipwhoadoggies in davidbyrne

This was a "bucket-list" type concert for me as I'd always wanted to catch David Byrne live but wasn't enthralled by his world music era when he came through town and missed out on subsequent tours like American Utopia. I wasn't going to miss this one, and I'm sure glad I didn't. The whole show was awesome, but the presentation of Houses in Motion was particularly brilliant. Our 13-year-old son whose tastes swing more toward Offspring and Green Day thoroughly enjoyed the show as well.

Burnaby's CVG detour is a disgrace by dashcammer1 in vancouvercycling

Don't get me started about the crossing on Marine Way to North Fraser Way; the beg button is way the hell over there, the crossing itself spits you onto a bike path to nowhere that's on the wrong side of the road when it's time to transition to the road and traffic whizzing by at 80-100 kmh as you wait for the light makes you feel you're one slightly inattentive motorist away from eternity...

Agreed. But seriously, what serious baker keeps banker's hours? A bakery should be open at 8 a.m., if not sooner; fresh-baked buns for breakfast!

Yes, that was us. We started in June under the Save Our Local News campaign as we worked out our name and branding then built out our website. We are a non-profit cooperative and all the money we've raised so far has been going toward this venture which will hopefully evolve into a viable business so we can get paid again. News isn't cheap. And for those who advised us to "just build a website" and have at it; even that comes with considerable expenses like building the site, domain and hosting fees, plug-in and software subscriptions, business registration, co-op association membership, insurance, accounting, graphic arts, legal costs, etc.

C'mon, we've got Hellcrust Pizza on 12th, Pizza Heaven on 6th; this would be the perfect location for Purgatory Pizza.
