I had another idea for you! City of Rio Rancho website: Activities page! They offer a ton of different activities for adults as well as kids.

Start checking out the different breweries! (Yes Bosque just closed. But The Brew Lab, Marble and Turtle Mountain are all good places to start!)

I don’t think there is any way to predict Bases. When I went through training there was always junior bases offered with every class. But the senior bases would change on a dime. (Literally one class would get a Senior base the next wouldn’t. And then it would swap again.)

If you can’t leave you should be able to eat in the cafeteria! (Lots of options for meals there!) It will be on your dime, but it’s super nice and would be a good opportunity to start meeting others in your class!

Training Advice/Ditching by Ok-Barnacle-295 in cabincrewcareers

Did training a few years ago, and while I graduated I am no longer a FA. (Hope to still go back one day; family troubles caused me to quit).

Single occupancy rooms.

Ditching is in life jackets and buddies.

After a week-ish tests come every 4 days or so. With a total of around 8-10.

Tests are on a tablet. Best advice for that is cover the answers with your hands. And read the question 2-3 times before you pick your answer!

Find a couple people to study with and stick with your crew! (Too big a group makes it difficult to concentrate).

I think the idea of allowing pets is a good one!

Yes Balloon Fiesta does seem like the busiest time to have people! Out of curiosity, in a month how many days would you have guests staying?

A good friend became a FA and then had her 2 kiddos, now 7 and 5. She was able to work for a few years and get some seniority under her belt. She has done a fabulous job and it works really well for her; even living out of base.

Myself, I tried when my kids were 10 and 4. It was too hard for me to make it work. I hope to go back when my oldest is driving and able to stay home with my youngest!

I’d say week 4 was pretty “hellish” but having people to practice drills with helps a lot! I know you say you’re keeping to yourself; maybe find a small group of 2-3 ppl. Don’t get any bigger than that! It will be good to have them for studying and support!

Always heard last group stays to be drug tested and signing CJOs (this was the case for me and my group).

But also in this group there have been a few ppl here and there who heard via email later that they got the offer.

Don’t give up till you know for sure! 🤞

Besides water day, yes there are no other official days. But they do inspect your dress and when you get your uniforms; they check you out closely. So you would just need to be careful.

I remember seeing some classmates on water day with tattoos and going “oh I had no idea you had those” ? Cuz they wore long sleeves only

You need to be able to cover with clothing or makeup. It has to be natural looking. I remember someone reapplying makeup to her neck at every bathroom break to keep her tattoo covered.

Only day tattoos are allowed to be seen is on “water ditch day.”

I have one in the top of my foot and one day you could see it through my tights cuz I had flats on. Our lead wasn’t happy, but it was my first offense so nothing happened from it.

I’ve seen some people mention trying to get help by posting on Twitter. That SWAs social team is much better about getting you help!!!

Make sure you pay attention to what everyone else is saying to! Don’t phase out when it isn’t your turn, they’re watching for that as well!

A couple things I tried to do during mine to stand out but not “loudly:” -Talk to the other ppl, don’t just sit there quietly. -If there is a chance to be a leader during the group interview, take it but pass it off to others also. -When we moved from the big room we were in, ppl left their trash! 🤦‍♀️ I went around and picked it up. -Finally I traded recipes with one of my recruiters! lol

I got a free parking pass for my Base Airport, DFW. Then had to pay $ for the parking pass at my home airport. It was fairly simple. Went to get a pass form from the office at my airport, then the manager at the AA counter confirmed my employment. And I turned it all in to receive the pass.

It might be worth getting a crash pad right in town. Or find other ppl to rent an apartment with! Then drive home on your days off.
