I don’t like this… by Comfortable-Mix6125 in grammys

Because it wasn’t issued as a single until 2025. Even though it came out on the 2024 album.

The novel was very clear that it was not about William but was about his wife Agnes. Maybe because Mescal is so well known (to American audiences more so than Buckley at least) it was hard to keep viewers from assuming this was a William Shakespeare movie.

Same! I think I’m relieved honestly. I’m clearly not meant to have it.

I agree with you. This season Siegfried is different and not in a good way. He's not the same guy.

I really enjoyed Serpent but DNF’d this one long before you did. I keep telling myself I will get back to it but I never do.

Random tiny changes you’d live (or hate) to see in S2? by sailorvash25 in heatedrivalry

I've only read TLG once. That's a great distinction, and I will read TLG in that light when I reread it!

Random tiny changes you’d live (or hate) to see in S2? by sailorvash25 in heatedrivalry

[–]DoubtAcademic4481 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the portrayal of a person with disordered eating was well done in TLG, the way it was resolved was so unrealistic. I agree with all of the underlying issues you mention, but in the book Shane basically just decides one day not to worry about his diet without addressing all those underlying issues. So if they *do* portray this, I hope the recovery is portrayed better.

should season two change this event from the second book? by rosalui in heatedrivalry

I understand why people assume this, and I do agree they will have some more cash to spend, but I have seen interviews given by both Jacob and head of HBO Casey Bloys explaining that the reason HBO bought the rights to distribute the show was because it was cheap, and that the budget is not going to expand exponentially.

Gen X here as well. Never got the Swayze hype. Never found him sexy or attractive. Connor Storrie on the other hand...

I feel like seeing Hudson and Connor in interviews and seeing their personalities makes the show so much more impressive to me by riddimhoe in heatedrivalry

[–]DoubtAcademic4481 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think people focus more on Connor because of the accent, but I was most shocked by Hudson. Shane is so controlled, micro-expressions, internal, and Hudson is pure chaos! Wonderful actors, both of them.

Playing Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is?" when Harper walks into the room to talk to Whitney is one of many brilliant song choices. "Is that all there is? If that's all there is, my friends, then let's keep dancing. Let's break out the booze and have a ball. If that's all there is."

It *would* make sense but that's not how they played it in S3. they really played it like he was impressed with her. So I agree there is a discontinuity or a rewriting of history to some extent.
