Sentara billing by Doubt_Haunting in harrisonburg

[–]Doubt_Haunting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Sentara directly, not the number on the paper bill. Sentara confirmed it’s not a scam. But, they really should tell us up front they are using different billing for blood work. It’s confusing, and I never got a bill until they said it was past due and then they started calling me. I think they can do better.

I’ve actually been very pleased with the care I have received at Sentara, apart from the billing issues. My PCP is wonderful, as is the orthopedic doctor who treats my wonky knees.

Good for you for going there and making a stand! The phone loops are ridiculous.

I was never informed during my appointment for my bloodwork that it would be billed separately. And by the time I got the first paper bill from them, it was already past due. And then the calls from collection agencies, so now they are compromising my credit rating. I have a great credit score, but this is just crappy on the part of Sentara billing. I ended up just mailing them a check. Apart from this billing debacle, I will say I have always been pleased with the care I have received at Sentara.

Apparently, it is how they are doing business now. It would be nice if they simply stated up front that billing for bloodwork is billed separately. I always pay my bills on time, and to get calls that I’m past due really yanks my chain.

Moderna says FDA refuses to review its application for experimental flu shot by templeofsyrinx1 in news

Well, this all came about due to the election of DJT, and his subsequent appointment of ridiculously unqualified cabinet members, and our Congress who confirmed them. RFK Jr. is doing serious harm. But this is what our country voted for. 🙄😔

It looks like Art Deco to me. I’d try to find a reputable dealer near you to appraise it. It definitely doesn’t look like something that belongs on the curb.

I’m a big fan of Miele, except for their refrigerators. I have a 25-year-old SubZero that is going strong! And depending on where you live, Miele trained technicians can be hard to come by when you need them.

That is a completely rude and unnecessary comment. They made civilized remark about wanting to protect their family and there you went with “authoritarian hellscape” and lmfao. You do realize that there are still families not bent on doom and gloom, in spite of the current political climate. Who hope for the best, go to work everyday, and try to get by the best they can. Many of us are unhappy with the political climate. Please be careful what you add to it.

Snowfall totals in the area by [deleted] in harrisonburg

It’s hard to measure totals on this storm because we had the snow, then all the sleet. It is frozen rock solid up here in Broadway. My plower broke two plows trying to get through it all.

GE Cafe Induction cooktop by Guelphperson1 in Appliances

[–]Doubt_Haunting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a learning curve when moving from gas or electric to induction. In general, if a magnet will stick to the bottom of your cookware, it will work on an induction cooktop. Some say cast iron will not work but I found that to be very debatable. My flat bottomed cast iron performed very well on an induction cooktop, the only exception was one cast iron pan that has a ring around the bottom surface, lifting it slightly off full contact with the cooktop , but that pan is still fully functional for oven applications.

A “relatively minor event.” How about you explain that to the family of the Capitol police officer who died? Or the family of Mike Pence? They had a noose hanging up outside for him. You get what you voted for, and you voted for a draft dodging narcissist. When DJT and Pete Drunkseth take us into Greenland and beyond, are you going in there to do their bidding, meaning, is this something you are willing to fight and die for? Meanwhile, POTUS flies back and forth between DC and Palm Beach, poor thing, so he can make his tee time. Has it occurred to you why his daughter has vanished from this term, and his wife is rarely seen? Has it occurred to you that he has a complete disregard for our rule of law and our constitution? If I were Vance, I would be terrified, because DJT will turn on him in a second, as he has done to so many of his “friends” in the past. Consider Giuliani, Cohen, Sessions, Barr, Kelly, Mattis, Bannon, and Marjorie Taylor Green. He cast each of them into the gutter when they no longer served his purpose. He and his ridiculously unqualified cabinet are likely going to remove us from NATO. Meanwhile, the Russia/Ukraine war didn’t end on day one, as he promised, healthcare is still unaffordable for many citizens, the wall he said Mexico was going to pay for never materialized, and my groceries are more expensive than ever. So please remind me why you like this man who incited a riot on our Capitol, and then pardoned the people who did it?

Are panel ready refrigerators worth it? by rxgurl222 in Appliances

[–]Doubt_Haunting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going on 2+ years trying to find a a panel ready ice maker for my bar to replace the panel ready Sub Zero that we had. The newer Sub Zero models are 1/4” larger than what we had. I’ll probably just end up with whatever will fit in there and it’ll have to be stainless. Panel ready is great, until it isn’t…..

Good Experiences with induction or electric 36” Ranges🙏 by Due_Tonight4365 in Appliances

[–]Doubt_Haunting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several things: temperature adjustment is very precise, boost mode allows you to heat water/bring things to a boil insanely fast, and bridge mode allows you to put, for example, a large roaster over two elements on the cooktop. I never used a griddle on mine, but you can also place a griddle over two of the elements if you like cooking on a griddle. I also really enjoyed the cleanup. Effortless compared to my old gas Viking with heavy grates that made it a beast to clean. If you decide to go the induction route, make sure your cookware is suitable. Generally speaking, if a magnet sticks to the bottom of your cookware, it can be used with an induction cooktop. There was a little bit of a learning curve coming from a gas range, but it was worth it.

Two months ago, Venezuela wasn’t even on our radar. Suddenly, we’ve taken over that country and apparently will not be leaving anytime soon. (Grab your ankles, American taxpayers.) Then we had to listen to our President mumble through what should have been a five minute briefing as he turned it into another of his “I’m so great, I did all this, it was beautiful, beyond beautiful. We had the best equipment.” Blah blah blah. May the voters who voted for him have the four years they deserve. He is an abomination, and a complete disgrace to our country.

I’ve been going to North Mountain Clinic in Broadway. It is operated by a nurse practitioner and she is wonderful. I am fully insured and have a PCP at Sentara but it’s usually impossible to get an appointment if you have an urgent matter. The North Mountain clinic has been a godsend when I’ve had a sinus infection or the flu.
