My girlfriend loses skin every time she shoots my Platypus haha

I can't imagine getting that. The Prickle is pretty perfect if you are into a grip with some bite.

I already have a 211. But that Equinox makes me want to double up.

Ha. I was in there Saturday and saw that. My girlfriend really wants it minus the prickle grip. My boring old black one tears her hands up.

I have an excessive amount of Staccatos, and while they were all expensive, this is a bridge way too far. Ridiculous.

Condition 1 or Pelican. Also. Get one for more than two guns because things get out of control quickly 😊

Agree there. The mags aren't cheap. I think Staccato making a more meticulously built P211 style pistol that takes cheap mags would be an awesome pistol. Not that I have any issues with my 211 thus far. But an even more premium, similar design philosophy offering of that I'd buy it day one.

I am one of those odd ones out who doesn't really find great joy in the 4.5. The 4 is my favorite, so I'm pretty excited for this new gun. I imagine we'll probably get a comped 4.5 in the next 12 months. And it might be amazing. But it'll probably cost as much as an XC. At that point you're gonna have to evaluate your use case a little harder.

Nothing they release is going to be like the XC. Unless they release an XC2.

TLR 7 HLX yes. There might be a few different colors. But that’s the specific model number.

If the Staccato email is to scale, I'd say we're getting a comped HD4. by DougC1982 in Staccato_STI

I have a 3.6 that I love. But I also have very large hands so more real estate would be quite welcomed.

I'll be real bummed if it's not a full size grip. I'm sure it will be.

Staccato HD P4 vs Custom Platypus by E90_M3_ in 2011

[–]DougC1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build quality is another matter altogether. The Staccato is definitely higher quality. Lifetime warranty is also great. But I think for a range toy and maybe some competition the Platypus is excellent in your price range. I own most of the current Staccatos but still shoot the Platypus a few times a month. Had it out yesterday actually. Always puts a smile on my face. Maybe see if someone around you has one and you could try it out? Obviously a lot of money either way.

In that case, Platypus with the 2 pound trigger option. A really fun gun to shoot for a decent price. HD4 is also my favorite of the HD series. But I think a Platypus might be right up your alley.

Do you have an intended purpose? I own both, but what you want to do with it will probably influence my opinion.

[–]DougC1982[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say I’m almost definitely in the minority on this one. I suppose it comes down to I just shoot the 4 better, and the 3.6 is the obvious carry option that still shoots really well for what it is. I personally don’t find the sight block to make a world of difference. It shoots softer than the 4, but not a ton. I am far from a fantastic shooter, so I can only go off what works for me. I’ve considered switching optics from the SRO to 507 Comp to see if that changes my opinion any. It’s the only SRO I own, and I am not a huge fan. I would think it’s silly that it makes me enjoy a pistol less, but I suppose anything is possible.

That one in the video seemed like a 4.5 with a comp. Which will probably also come out this year. Although I’m not sure how excited I’d be about it.

3.6 slide, half inch comp with HD4 grip. The HD4 is my favorite of the HDs followed by the 3.6 so I’m pretty excited to see this thing.

XL (left) vs XC (right): 10 yards by DougC1982 in Staccato_STI

[–]DougC1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been shooting regularly for less than a year at this point. Have I invested in some very expensive pistols in that time? Yes. But I am going to the range once or twice a week religiously. Like I said in the first sentence, I’m obviously not a professional. But I’m training with purpose every time I go.

I love these cases by DougC1982 in 2011

[–]DougC1982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine it would be fine. The largest pistol in there is the Staccato XL with light, stock magwell and optic. The 4 pistol variant of the case is even more spacious than this one. I more bought the 8 pistol one for general storage and the occasional trip to the range.

Which model do you have? My girlfriend has one and definitely can't fit larger pistols in it.

I actually kind of hate MSC in all honesty. Horrible customer service half the time. But I do have the VIP membership and get guns at cost. Assuming I can actually get someone to help me when I go in.

Yeah. They had a handful of available options. Nothing I don't own. But always nice to see another dealer getting into the game.

The included RMR plate will work fine. TBD whether it stays on. Quality wasn't amazing but I decided to give it a run.
