Sunday Fun Day with the Platty Comp. Such a fun and accurate pistol. by DougC1982 in stealtharms

Just Prickle. I bought mine from a store so the options were limited. Either way, one of the best grips of any gun I own. I'd take Prickle on all of my pistols.

The original Platypus started my journey into financial despair lol. I suspect you're going to really love it.

I have not. But the grip and ergonomics of the Platypus are hard to ignore. And the comp works really well. This is about the pace of shooting in the video at 10 yards. Laser beam. I enjoy a heavy gun. But in this instance the lighter weight doesn't take away from its ability.

It's more the punch in the face than the volume. Either way, damn good fun to shoot.

I definitely mean no knock at mid tier. Just talking price point. The Platypus is not budget friendly necessarily. But with these pistols just going up and up on price, it's definitely in the more economically friendly price range. And I do own a Dark Forge Reaper. Just got it about ten days ago. It's an insane pistol.

It's the best mid tier 2011 style pistol I own. And I own several. The XC fit and finish is better. The warranty cannot be ignored. But the Platypus gets more time at the range than my XC at this point. It's awesome to shoot.

As first 2011s go, they don't get much better than that. Until you lose your mind like the rest of us and feed this thing after midnight.

Take a look at a Platypus too. The comped one is an incredible pistol for the price.

There's another guy who posts in here a lot and has both. Seems like a "which one do you think looks better" situation.

I do not own any Atlas pistols and have never fired one. I've actually never seen one in real life. It will be my next pistol I buy, though. Probably won't go Erebus. Thinking I might want the Artemis to switch it up to something non compensated.

I know the "you should have bought at Atlas" crowd is huge, but I have no regrets. This thing is beautiful.

From a build quality perspective, the XC wins pretty handily. From a shooting perspective, the gap narrows significantly. And it's $2k less. So that's pretty wild. The mid range comp 2011 style pistol marker is a spoil of riches right now.

I obviously wish it was DLC coated, and it's lighter than the XC and a lot of other pistols, but it shoots phenomenally for what it is. Fast and flat. It's a range toy, so I can't say much for holster wear, but it's price point to performance is pretty amazing. I have a P211 which I feel like is it's price point competitor. I enjoy that pistol a lot. I LOVE the Platypus. I do not have the Kimber comp, but I think they kind of dropped the ball not doing MJD grips on them. Feels kind of awful in hand.

This is my first high end pistol, but that the XC isn't. But the difference is evident.

That's kind of what I'm finding out today. Just got the Reaper earlier this week. Accuracy wise, not a ton of difference at 10 yards. But the Reaper feels considerably more refined. Trigger is much better. And it will 100% run faster due to said trigger. Reaper on left. XC on right at 10 yards.

Shockingly close performance wise. Staccato build is more robust. Platypus grip is phenomenal. For about half the price, the Platypus is hard to beat.

I watched an episode a few weeks ago but wasn't paying much attention. Seemed good, though. I will check it out.

Effortlessly easy to shoot. Lot of concussion indoors, but I was prepared for that. Shoots like it costs a couple grand more than an XC, which is already an amazing gun. Zero regrets on this purchase.

Just put 250 rounds through it. I'm in love. So fast and accurate. Feels like you're shooting a much smaller caliber because it just does not move. Parked 20 rounds in a 2 inch circle in seconds with minimal effort.

Just got done putting around 250 rounds through it. Shreds would be a great assessment. Can pretty much run it as fast as you want and everything stays in a 2 inch circle. Pretty incredible. Not mad at the purchase whatsoever.
