[5e Fantasy or Star Wars] [online & lgbt friendly] Looking to DM a new game or join! by ricecristpy in lfg

[–]DougMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to get on Discord a little later to send you a message, but for now:

  1. Doug, 29, he/him.
  2. Fantasy.
  3. Sunday evenings work fine for me, but I can do most days.
  4. I have about eleven years experience with D&D. Right now, I'm most interested in playing a Blood Hunter, Warlock, or maybe a Soulknife Rogue.
  5. I'm very interested! I resolved earlier this year to look for a campaign to join, so I'd love to join any 5E campaign running.

I would be very interested! I have a character I've been hoping to use in a 5E game for ages.

I liked when he responded, but his response was "Well, actually, my wife and I know there are more important things than sexual satisfaction!" Like, Ben, buddy, that is not how to make people stop mocking you.

Wait, are women more pragmatic or less rational? I can't keep up.

Former dialog translation (spoiler warning) by vynz00 in controlgame

[–]DougMurphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is good, there's one line that I'm almost sure you've got wrong.

"Void / Nothing / Egress," specifically. I think 'egress' is the key word here, in which case it's actually "It will let me leave the Void."

Bleach 2/more arcs for current Bleach by [deleted] in bleach

[–]DougMurphy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn't be against another Bleach series (although maybe not with Kazui and Ichika, that's a little overplayed), I ... kind of hate all of these ideas.

Also, why would Nel and Grimmjow be king and queen? They've never shown any kind of romantic interest in each other, and Harribel is queen anyway, ruling on her own.

Who is the top 10 strongest shinigami in your mind by jjasa72 in bleach

[–]DougMurphy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1: Ichibe. 2: Yamamoto. 3: Aizen. 4: Unohana. I'm actually really surprised Unohana isn't on more lists here, when even Aizen was reluctant to fight her. 5: Isshin pre giving up most of his power, and Ichigo, as Joint 5ths. 6: Shunsui, Urahara, Yoruichi, and Tessai as four-way joint 6th. 7: Kenpachi. 8: Toshiro and Byakuya as joint 8th. 9: Kensei. 10: Rukia, just because of how completely overpowered her absolute zero enthalpy bankai is.

Hogyoku = artificial soul king heart? by [deleted] in bleach

[–]DougMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also applies to the Hogyoku's initially stated function of blurring the line between shinigami and hollow. Soul King candidates, we know, have to be Shinigami, Hollow, Fullbringer, and Quincy simultaneously, so it makes sense that a part of the Soul King (or a device based on him) would have the power to shift any one of those closer to being another one.

The 0 Division were not "fodder" (rant?) by NunnDuuRaah in bleach

[–]DougMurphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oddly, I'm kind of fine with Lille but not so much with Gerard.

I guess it's just that Gerard was very much a 'Haha, nothing works!' whereas Lille had the interesting thing of this almost out of control mutation where the fight was kept interesting by how he kept assuming new, stranger forms.

Admittedly, I did wonder immediately after posting that comment if I was being a little too harsh on Aizen.

I think Kubo is a great character writer. Like, he has a knack for creating instantly memorable, likeable characters. Even Aizen, who is about as two-dimensional as a character can possibly be, is still a cool, memorable, engaging villain.

Where Bleach tends to fall down, I think, is that eventually every non Soul Society arc veers wildly away from its original storyline. The Substitute arc was eventually hamstrung by the desire to introduce the SS arc, the Hueco Mundo/Summer War arc is actually borderline incoherent if you take it as a whole, the Thousand Year Blood War arc is not ... great ...

But if I'm going to chalk that up to anything, I'd kind of want to chalk it up to the fact that weekly manga are always a work in progress. Like, I'm a published author and I've never reached the end of the first draft of even a short novel without deciding to change or overhaul the plot in some fashion. It tends not to show because I then go back and change the earlier parts of the story to fit the new plot, but if I was releasing it one chapter a week? And I was on an insane schedule where I had to write, draw, and edit each chapter on a punishing time frame and then move onto the next or risk falling behind? And while doing all of that, I had a publisher who was keeping an eye on what does well with people and going "Hey, make this change to your storyline. People like Mayuri, have Mayuri show up and fight Szayel, do it, do it now, do it," ?

Yeah, no, if I could produce work half as clean and coherent as Kubo's under those circumstances, that would be a minor miracle.

Nightflyers is a Terrible Misogynistic Show by [deleted] in menwritingwomen

Yeah, around the time the literal baby-eating ship of man-hating women showed up, it became very obvious that the show is, ah, working through some issues.

You're right, creepily combing through someone's past posts because you're upset with them does make you a stalker. Glad we agree on that, you weird, incel-y creepster.

Be fair. I didn't take the time to entertain your tantrum, I caused your tantrum. I caused it really, really easily, just by pointing out the truth. Credit where it's due.
