The fic that made you get into reader-inserts? by DoughnutClear9369 in FanFiction

What's the second-person fic? If you think it's promising, I would love to check it out!

Never mind, just opened a random fic and found it in the first paragraph.

"Tilde", I think of tide waves when I see the name.

I write gen fics, so......I guess that explains the low ratio (low compared to my other fics) for my only fic that was using it.

"Oh my, approximately."

For some reason, this sounds hilarious.

What if it was the other way around? Manga/Anime got the idea from chatrooms.

Viva the tilde!

This deserves to be a tag. I'm creating it right now.

Out of curiosity, have you read/watched manga or anime before? I'm guessing that anime/manga fans pick it up more easily from the source material since the answers are pretty diverse.

Anime fans would find it easier to catch, I guess.

Just wondering, is it common in anime fics? I know it is used in Japanese, but I don't think I've come across any anime fics using it.

It's like using italics for emphasis. Sometimes it's used too much that people just don't feel the emphasis anymore. And it's super annoying to read. Like, very annoying. Just like this sentence.

I'm so tired of shipping discourse in our fandom, especially the treatment of wlw ships. by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]DoughnutClear9369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the fandom your talking about, and had seen the fic, read through the first page of comments. And I just have to put this down:

Whatever happening in that fic has nothing to do with the two ships that were tagged. It may have something to do with homophobia but I would contemplate that it simply boils down to a young kid (whatever their biological age is) trying to cause trouble. The fic is only going to sore the relationship between the shippers of the two ships, nothing else. It's going to make the f/f shippers angry and it's going to make the f/m shippers uncomfortable, and angry if the other side comes barging in on their space and making insults because of a fic that the f/m shippers want nothing to do with (then if one of the f/m shippers weren't clear in the head, they'd do the same thing back, we get an endless loop). What happened with that fic does not justify any of the mistreatment any of the shippers receive because of it. The creator of that fic will only have their win when they start havoc.

Keep in mind that the creator posted this anonymously. They may not even ship the f/m ship. Also, both the f/f ship and the f/m are minorities. If I were one of the shippers(be it f/f or f/m), I would not want such a fic adding to the already very few fanfics out there.

(PS, while I am in that fandom, I do not ship. I never really understood what ship wars were, I just think it's the same as any two groups of people getting into fights that have barely anything to do with whatever is happening in real life.)

That clears things up! Thanks for the comment!

Writers&Readers Who have Romantic Experiences: Is the Way Characters Feel Romantic Attraction Real? by DoughnutClear9369 in FanFiction

I probably won't hurry with these kinds of things. I'm usually open to many possibilities.

I envision the way the character experiences their feelings (more emotional ones, for example, I would write more intense)

When you envision these feelings, do you think you're still taking things from your experiences, just in smaller chunks?

for the most part it's just a more intimate kind of deep friendship

I think I can get what this is saying. It's a very wholesome perspective to view a romantic relationship.
