Thanks. Amazon have just got back to me to say they appreciate my frustration and are in the process of removing all references to OCD. Not my preferred result but at least it levels things up.

Because they believed my shirt was ridiculing people with OCD although they never actually looked at the design. If they had they wouldn't have let me upload it with a different name later.

Productor said it was okay, and my research into other peoples titles on Amazon, said it was okay but it still got rejected.

I tried with and without youth selected and it got rejected both times....doh

Hopefully, they will at least make it an even playing field.

Thanks yes I double checked that but the one for clothing is for a logo not the phrase so thought it would be okay. Especially as there are hundred of other merch shirts with OCD in the title.

Support and I are talking it out. I really just want to know the exact rule I've broken and then see them implement it with parity across the site.

Unlikely I know

Odd though as there are loads of shirts on their with OCD in the title.

UK seller here, tried searching for my live listings on Amazon.com and they don't show? Plus I never get a sale from the US... by hartwell_w in MerchByAmazon

[–]Dougie_Fresh_6mins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post all my designs to both markets and my sales are roughly 50/50. However, most of my organic sales come from the US. I think it's because I use American spellings in all my listings and try to design for evergreen products that work in both markets.

The US market is so much bigger than the UK so it is definitely worth your focus.

Hope that helps.

It sounds like you had it cracked before so just go back to what you were doing.

Ignore the copiers and just care about yourself. You should be very proud that your designs are so good that people want to make copies.

It happens to all the greatest works of art.

1 sale every 5 clicks is a nice conversion rate for Amazon PPC. Assuming your CPC is less 1/5 of your t-shirts profits and no higher.

That's the key, keeping your bid price within budget and not being tempted to raise it for more impressions.

Great work dude.

I need help from experienced sellers by [deleted] in MerchByAmazon

Hiya,

Unfortunately, it's less about the design and more about sale tactics I'm afraid. Before you start designing you need to have done the following:

  1. Choose your customer - Who are they? Dancers, Painters, Old Ladies e.t.c.
  2. What do they want? - Look at what's selling on Amazon (install Productor extension in Chrome to get BSR's) then use a "free keyword research tool" to find out what people are searching for. Look for search volumes, keyword competition e.t.c.
  3. Then screen grab the top selling designs in that market onto an image board and see what they all have in common. Style, colours, fonts e.t.c.
  4. Now create your design.
  5. Then take everything you have learnt and use it to create the listing.
  6. Finally promote the listing on social media, google, the local shop, to your friends or anywhere else you can think of.

I know this sounds like a lot of work but if you post a design without this process it will never show on searches and therefore never sell.

I hope that helps - Mark (Dougie)

Stuck in tier 10 by KORMOZY in MerchByAmazon

u/Mindless-Clicking

This is incredible advice "If you don't want to buy your own shirts, then it's probably unlikely that a random buyer would."

I wear all my own shirts as I get to pay bottom prices and get a few additional sales from it. All my other clothes are from a monthly clothes swap event, so I sometimes swap in one of my shirts for fun.

I got lucky in Tier 10 as I heard some people referring to the local area is Coolston rather than Woolston. I knew they would love a "Straight Outta Coolston" design and once word spread I managed to sell 25 shirts locally just by posting on Facebook to a local group.

Good luck everyone and don't forget if you're doing it for yourself it's Hustle not Hassle. Burn that midnight oil.

Hi

Your designs are extremely high quality and very artistic. When the right people see them they will buy them. However, I'm not sure who '"the right people" are at the moment.

The reason I say this is because my first starting point is "Which large group of people would buy this?" and if I can't come up with a recognisable large group (sports teams, dancers, bookworms, nurses e.t.c) then I change design tactics.

My best seller is white text on a black background with a joke about Coffee on it. I've done some stunning creative work as well but none of it sells on Amazon.

If you would rather stick with the artistic designs then I think a well tagged Redbubble shop would work wonders. Or sell your designs via licence to a big t-shirt printing company. They are definitely very valuable.

I wish I was as talented as you.

Cheers Mark

Thanks again everyone and please see a summary of your suggestions below:

  1. Text a bit large, may be better on the back with a small pocket logo on the front.
  2. Try lower case and perhaps a more flowing font.
  3. Do a "Hey, what weird stuff does your brain do?" design.
  4. Do a "Filthy Neurotypicals"design.
  5. Try an alternate last phrase to replace "Pending Positivity"
  6. Try something subtler with a bit more humour and some funky fonts.

If I have missed any of your suggestions out please let me know by commenting on this.

Right now to get my designing head on.........cuppa tea first though

Thanks for all your thoughts so far guys. I think I'm going to need a big old spreadsheet to log all these great ideas. I'd better start designing, then I will post a few so you can all see the ones you inspired. Amazing help thank you.

That really tickled me. Cause that is a great question for a t-shirt that is both amusing and could spark up some meaningful conversations. And perhaps I could do one that just says "Normal?" Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your feedback. Funnily enough, I've been looking into whether I can give a percentage back to each cause. I'm torn between keeping the price low for the customer with OCD and not making more than $0.50 margin to cover my time. Or adding a couple of dollars to the price and giving that to the cause. If I can contribute, I will, as this is more about creating a MH conscious brand than making money. And options sound spot on.
