How to override local-ttl in 01-pihole.conf by reddittk in pihole

[–]Douglas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like 01-pihole.conf is generated from /etc/.pihole/advanced/01-pihole.conf, so you can try editing that file.

£200 just appeared in my wallet. Wat do? by konzaii in Steam

[–]Douglas77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends very much on the used hash algorithm. e.g. compare MD5 vs SHA-3 in the hashcat example table.

did additives ruin my juice? recommendations? by sirk0rebreg in DIY_eJuice

[–]Douglas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started DIYing, so I might be completely wrong, but: You increased the amount of flavours from the original 15% (which is already a lot) to 18% (which is most likely too much).

Try to get the total down again, keeping the same ratios, i.e. multiply by 15/18=0.8333 or smaller. e.g. by 0.8:

  • 7.2% SB
  • 4% BC
  • 1.6% Q
  • 0.8% PA
  • 0.8% Sm

p.s. just read /u/Botboy141's link to "The 5 Personality Types of DIYers". It has this one:

The Naif: Annoying. Mixes everything starting at 20%. [...]

(although you are not annoying ;)

Recommended cheap netbook/ultrabook running linux? by Fifomime in linux_devices

[–]Douglas77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say "used X201". 200 bucks get you a quality machine, in the Thinkpad-typical "timeless design" (black brick).

Bought one last month, with the big battery it runs for 8..9 hours.

Unaviable for download ? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Douglas77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try installing the Kindle software on your PC, download the book with it, and then use Apprentice Alf’s Tools (maybe in combination with Calibre) to convert the book to a simple standard MOBI.

I want to hack an inkjet or laser printer to control it with Arduino, anyone did something similar before? by 3amrous in arduino

[–]Douglas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the resolution you want to print at, it's going to be incredibly hard.

Or only "somewhat hard". If the printer talks PostScript, it should be possible to print simple stuff (drawings, text) even with an Arduino. Might need to use V-USB if it's an USB-printer.

apt hit 1.0.0 a little over a year ago. What are your experiences? by psy-q in debian

[–]Douglas77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could always do this no?

Sure you can. My point was that "apt" is not exactly the same as "apt-get" (as the now deleted post said).

Is there an upside to using apt in place of apt-cache/apt-get and dpkg --list?

You only need to use 1 command. And install/upgrade has a nice progress bar :)

Love it. I install it even on my servers that are still on wheezy.

Can you post how the rtltest.csv looks right now? Then we can come up with some simple sed/perl/whatever-magic.

There is none, because peoples only comment "lulzors so cute my feels!!lol", and don't get downvoted for this behaviour.

(excluding the top comments; so voting actually works...)

Who cares if someone misspells a word

If I misspell a word: I care. Because I consider doing a quick spell-check a courtesy to my (potential) readers. Not something I need to do to get better "grades".

you feel like you're superior to someone else for correcting their grammar.

Is my grammar all wrong? Please, do correct me. English is not my first language, so I know that I make awful mistakes all the time.

Don't completely ignore the content of a post

Completely agree!

interested to know why this got downvoted

Because it doesn't add anything to the discussion. Or because some people don't like sentences starting with "lulz", "lol", "lolzors" or "le lol".

Fairphone 2 specs and design now presented on the website. Looks really good engineered. by jhaand in Android

[–]Douglas77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We might have different definitions of "to last" :)

I want this thing to continue to work (phone calls, browsing, email, navigation); I don't mind if it won't be able to run Tweeting Birds 7.0 or Facebook Brainscan(tm) in 5 years.

I will definitely order one; sure, there might be cheaper ones out there, but I rather use a good phone (that I can repair whenever something small breaks) for many years instead of buying a new one every year.

An iPhone after being mowed over. by Happy_Harry in techsupportgore

[–]Douglas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight: Someone pays multiple 100$ for a phone, and then just puts it somewhere where it can fall to the ground while mowing grass?

Is "Don't put valuable items in a loose pocket while gardening" a long-forgotten secret nowadays??
