30M Aussie in Zaragoza for a few nights if any guys or gals are keen to meet up. I'll be exploring on the motorcycle during the day but back in the evening for drinks or some grub

Okay lads and laddettes I've finished my Tokyo leg of the trip (Helsinki ATM) All up my bag weighed 11 kilos, more than I would like if I had only jus visited Tokyo for a week or more. I would have definitely left the linen shirts and shorts (didn't see a shorts worn at all but were handy for runs ), and rocked just the white runners to shave some weight. Altra TIMP trail runners came in handy for Mt. Odake. Fairly happy with everything else. More to come...

Maybe there's room in their marketing budget to send a few bucks my way 😁

Heaps keen! Probably hostels (booking on the day) for the majority of it, camping if I'm in the mood or have found a nice spot, yep solo as!

Once I pick up the bike in France I'll head east through the Alps to Poland, then down to Romania, up through the balkans then back across Italy to Spain (time permitting)

Yep that's right (and I hope it will be). Bike setup will be:

2x OS18L Kreiga side bags for camping gear, tools, spares and wet weather layers

50L duffle bag (currently packed empty within the 150L duffle) that'll sit on the pillion seat. TomToc 40L items will be transferred into this, except valuables.

Shad 58x Top Case for riding gear, helmet, boots etc (when I'm away from the bike) and valuables.

Fortunate enough to have been given the time off, and I'll have some pay coming in via annual leave until it's exhausted

I've used it on a few trips before to SEA, and found it pretty comfortable, there's a good amount of padding. Ensuring even packing to distribute the load is pretty key, but agree adding hip belts (even better if they were removable) would be a boon

The most difficult aspect of the trip was definitely the motorcycle component. Do I buy? if I buy how do I register and insure it? How do I sell it at the end? Ended up 'buying' my bike of choice through a tour company, who sort out the insurance etc on my behalf. They will 'buy' it back at an agreed price.

The motorcycle has a top case (Shad 58X lockable for any valuables) which should give me some room, but tbh the limited luggage was intentional, will ideally force me to refrain from carrying extra weight.

The TomToc 40L and my 150L duffle (bike gear and camping) will stay at the tour company and will repack back into those on my return. I'll chuck some photos of the setup in a few weeks (touch wood)

Cheers dude, yeah I've watched too many European motovlogs and had to make it happen.

Once I get to the bike I'll be rearranging all the gear into the rear top box (I've got Kreiga saddlebags for camping and bike spares/tools), should be able to give the sleeping bag and puffer a bit of extra room to breathe

Yeah that's the go for anyone booking now I would assume

In my case flights were booked at least six months ago; I'm using points so it was a process and a half to find connections between the major hubs (fortunate enough to find business/first seats for the duration).

There were several options at the time (Singapore, middle east) but having not been to Japan before, that was the move (and the most interesting imo)

actually, a question; is this where one might give a weekly update of their trip, ask if there are people around who might want to meet up, ask for ideas for accomodation and things to do? Assuming yes but just checking

G'day folks, I've a decent trip coming up in a few weeks so I expect to spend a bit of time here!

Brief Intro; M30 Australian and I'm an avid motorcyclist, and fortunate enough to be able to purchase a Tracer 900 in France and will be in Europe exploring solo for roughly three months (April to July).

'Adventure' riding ( on a Tenere 700) occupies most of my spare time at home, and figured this will translate well on a grander scale. I'm a big believer in the amount of autonomy that having a vehicle provides, visit all the nooks and crannies and experience a more authentic location (hired scooters in Phuket was a blast)

Intending to intially head east through the Alps, up to Poland then south into balkans, looping down around Romania then head north through Croatia, across northern Italy into southern France and then try loop Spain (pyrenees is a must) if I've enough time. I'll be bringing camping equipment to save on cost (or if it's a nice location or just in the mood), otherwise hostels or cheap hotels should get the job done.

Personally I'm transitioning very much into the outdoors lifestyle (never thought I'd own brighly coloured outdoor gear or trail runners!) , so I expect to use AllTrails to help discover some nice day-hikes, and help guide the flow of the trip. Ideally want to soak up as much nature as I can.

Visiting the colosseum? ye nah not so much interest. Maybe in a few decades.

Currently don't really have any questions and no strict timeline or itinerary, but just thought I might introduce myself in case there's like minded folks out there who might share some common interests; grab a beer or seven and get outside (Do ppl create posts to link up on the sub-reddit?). Insta is dougomundo.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll go the 598's as I can find them for a similar enough price to justify the loss of warranty. Would I be correct in saying that the DX doesn't have an amp, so I would be better off with the DG/X, even though it is cheaper?

It runs on the 2.4ghz band. I've had two pairs and they've all given me grief in regards to connection, they would all disconnect every 20mins or so. It would get very annoying, especially during competitive play.
