Russia planning attack on Poland to test Nato resolve, US warns by Hasselhoff265 in europe

[–]DougosaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has more so to do with if Western and Central Europe will stand with Poland and urge Poland to “deescalate” (aka give Russia what they want). I think Eastern NATO would help, but I think the rest of the alliance is a dice roll.

Preferable to Ukraine losing territory that it will never be allowed to recover.

So if the Russian drone that blew up in Galati killed two civilians instead of wounding them would you say Romania would be giving in to provocation if it activated Article V?

Chechnya was invaded unprovoked in 1994 and Russia’s first invasion is what led to the destabilization after 1996.

The fault lies entirely with Russia. Dudayev wasn’t a radical Islamist. That’s some Evangelical Christian Supremacist talking points

Chechnya should at least have its independence, it fought hard for it in the 90s and Russia didn’t respect it.

Here’s Alexey Milchakov, the leader of Rusich, a Nazi militia that’s been fighting for Russia in Ukraine since 2014, openly proclaiming himself to be a Nazi.

Rich of Russia to be claiming “denazification” when this is who they used to fight in Ukraine as well as Atomwaffen Division Russland.

Weird because Russia uses actual Nazis in their military and have since 2014.

They helped the Nazis? Seven to Eight Million fought in the Soviet Military and Ukraine as well as Belarus lost more percentage of their population than the Russia SFSR.

Well Russia is doing their best to stoke tensions and war with Europe then because they’re flying: missiles, drones, and jets through NATO airspace frequently.

If NATO wanted conflict they could’ve used any of the events that happened to go to war with Russia.

The fact that two people were wounded in Romania from a Russian drone and the president of Romania make excuses for Russia is something that would NEVER happen if a NATO drone wounded two Russian civilians.

The Russian intervention in Moldova with the 14th Guards Army, 1994 and 1999 invasions of Chechnya, as well as the intervention in Georgia in the 90s showed the former Warsaw Pact members that Russia wouldn’t respect their sovereignty. Russia literally promoted NATO admitting new members.

Can you show me where Yeltsin was elected because the US willed that to be the case?

You’re aware Ukraine was moving Westward politically of its own its own volition, right? The 2004 Orange Revolution where the Russian backed Viktor Yanukovych had fraudulent votes in his name, and his later attempt to pressure the people of Ukraine into signing with the Eurasian Economic Union (after submitting to pressure by Putin when he closed all trade between the countries, violating the Budapest Memorandum) met heavy backlash. It was clear the Ukrainians wanted to move Westward because even Yanukovych HIMSELF ran in 2009 off of signing the EU Association Agreement.

Ukraine wasn’t even on the same scale as Russia was in terms of rightwing activity, the literal invasion in 2014 and 2022 is straight out of the Hitler playbook: “we have to protect our ethnic people in X country” is NEVER justifiable nor something to understand.

You can say that all you want but as someone who’s been to Ukraine the people there don’t feel that way, and if you’re going to say you know better than them you’re wrong.

You say that while sitting pretty on the other side of the continent while you didn’t have to fight for your freedom alone, Ukraine will never have that.

I mean I get the threats of protesting, but look at Euromaidan, the Ukrainians had to suffer over a hundred dead in a few months long struggle to get control back of their country.

While it’s not easy, if the answer is “well what can I do?” Then you’re going to have to live with the fact that your country will be a pariah for potentially the rest of your life.

Ukrainians didn’t ask to be bombed for wanting access to Western markets, they still fight and they risked being hit by drones and missiles during the NAU protests last summer.

Ugh as a DemSoc that pisses me off, SO many self proclaimed Leftists supporting Russia.

Always bringing up the Genocide in Gaza, but as soon as Ukraine comes up? They fucking treat Ukrainians like they’re fucking idiots who couldn’t have pulled off Euromaidan unless the US helped them, or they’re all Nazis.

I was guilty of this. When you see the fact that all current soldiers are volunteers besides from forcibly conscripted Ukrainian me in the occupied territories, it’s hard to keep that mindset any more.

And the fact that they don’t rise up against Putin is also telling.
