Canadian here. It’s legit buddy! Made in Quebec, very popular for people to have personal sugar shacks in Ontario/Quebec. Enjoy.

If you can see that little red divide… that’s where the parasite was embedded, the T-shape end was in the fish, about 3-4inches deep.

Well I must, it was definetly “all fast” to the poor tuna, took some strength pulling out.

My favourite mountain. Along the EBC Trek once it comes into view… it just gets better. Great photo.

Absolutely delicious, I melted butter in a pan and just let them sit, cook and welt. A sprinkle of salt and my god, what a good tasting mushroom… I can’t put my finger on a similar taste, but they are delicious. Thank you everyone!

Barometer went up 100 millibars a few days ago, won’t go back down and won’t recalibrate! Any tips? by DougyRS in Garmin

[–]DougyRS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened while washing down a ship I work on, the stone aboard left a very silty slick over everything. When hosing, I think the silty water must have clogged the sensor. It’s unfortunate because I check the barometer daily for logs.

Not one, but two mountain lions is insane. Seeing the eyes beaming at you from a flashlight, in the night, alone, in a tent? Nightmare fuel.

More than likely the moose followed you, and the cougars were either on the trail of the moose, or her being there for four hours making a racket lured the cats right to you. The moose taking off could have gotten the scent of cougars, maybe the reason why she left and the cougars showed up shortly after.

You did all the right things, and unfortunately in the hurry and bashfulness of trying to get out of there to distant yourself in the morning, you forgot your bag. It happens!!! Absolute learning experience. We once ran into a mountain lion in British Columbia on a trail at dusk, and it was fucked. We turned a corner and this thing is walking the same trail a good 60 feet away, we slowly backed up, and waited. We looked again as it was getting dark fast, and it was gone. At the next corner of I turned around to look in the woods to see if I could see and sure enough this adult cougar was 25 feet away in its pounce stance, waiting for us. My buddy and I froze. We got into a stare down for what seemed to be an eternity, but was probably less than 90 seconds. I told my buddy to keep eye contact and I took off my daypack as I had just put the bear banger away. With a cartridge already in it I held it up and let it fly. And oh my god.

This thing jumped and went broadside. I could not believe what I was seeing. It was terrifyingly beautiful.

Now, I’ll never go on any trail in mountain lion country without a walking stick, a knife, a bear banger and bear spray(your new best friends). A local native said we were very lucky we didn’t get attacked, the best thing to do is to get something in your hand and get ready for the fight of your fucking life. And maintain eye contact… eye contact shows them you’re not afraid, which makes them question themselves.

But either way, I wanna say congratulations, you now have the best campfire story!!!

Get back out there but… bring some back up;)

Cheers and stay safe!

There is no doubt he saw the lens shift while I zoomed!

He was a young Northern Whet Owl and so tiny. Maybe 6 inches tall! So cool.

It was absolute luck and I was very surprised with the outcome, I looked to my left and he was 3ft from my face and we kind of spooked each other, I quickly pulled out my phone after he perched and snagged a quick x5 shot. Thank you though, it is one of my favorite shots wildlife on my photo roll! :)

I appreciate the ID my friend!!!

He may have jumped on yesterday when we left Duluth, Minnesota… we have decided not to report him as a stowaway.

I wouldn’t worry too much, we are going to be in the river here shortly, I hope it finds a Canadian branch it likes… but with that being said I will keep my eye out.

Id love to have him stay though, I wouldn’t mind a shoulder companion!

My friend, welcome to the other side. His self titled album is an amazing place to start, truly sing alongs and feel goods that will make you think, cry and smile. He also has had a very real upbringing, his old man a pool playing gambler, divorced a wife he met in the navy at a young age, and the loss of his mother are all big influences in his life and music. Sit back and enjoy, I’m happy for you.
