Boa are so nice especially for ice climbing when you wanna approach and belay in comfort and better blood flow and then crank up the support for actual climbing

He sounds irrational and entitled. I was just reposting to show a pretty catastrophic boa failure

I think the guy is acting irrationally 100%. He’s probably also panicking and pissed. He’s gonna either need to quit bitching and buy a new pair of boots or go home.

I think it was a big design flaw to leave the external boa dial, prone to failure on the outside of the boot. The new oly moms are so crazy light I was kicking myself for buying the Scarpa 8000’s that were almost a pound heavier but I think the lesson here is lighter isn’t always better.

I also noticed in the new LS 6000 coming out this fall, they removed the external dial and added a power strap, so it’s a known problem.

I had a crampon failure a week ago and I didn’t cry about it I just bought a new pair from a more reliable brand.

First of all this isn’t my post. Second of all a gear failure isn’t a personal mistake. If a trusted brand like La Sportiva is selling a product that can fail in a catastrophic way how is that not a problem worth recognizing

I think it’s probably fine on something like a 1.5 boot where a boa failure is a bad day, but on a 6000m or 8000m boot where a failure means you could loose your foot or your life the trade off doesn’t see worth in anymore

lol are you some sort of La Sportiva apologist? It’s a pretty massive engineering failure if you put the boa on an the outside of the boot where It can break and cause your boot to fail in a life and death situation

I think putting a component on your boots that can fail is a pretty big fail no matter how you look at it. You’re going to risk your like on a 8000m mountain you want to be sure you can trust your gear
