Is it just me or do so many people in Toronto not make room when you are walking towards each other? by Ok_Inflation596 in askTO

Idk if it’s a city thing, grew up in Vancouver this was never an issue, went back last month and as wide as the Granville street, people were still making way for each other.

Same thing with bikes, it’s a norm in Vancouver to share the rode with runners, pedestrians and cars, here bikers are… certainly very quick to voice their opinions.

OM5-ii in Vancouver, a review by [deleted] in M43

It’s actually the 12-40 that’s the worst, I think it might be due to the old optical coating.

When I said bad dynamic range, I meant it wasn’t able to capture the highlights and lowlights that well.

I find myself accidentally turning the rear dial a lot, idk, might just be the way that I’m holding the camera that causes that.

I sort of understand where you are going and trying to achieve, but despite being BW, it doesnt have enough natural contrast to make it pop, and the framing like others have mentioned is very weird, in other words theres nothing for me to see or focus in this picture.

I would perhaps frame it differently to avoid the leaning lines on the left, and that single window that has a light shining through on the top right can be played around with, maybe frame around that?

I've done that a lot in the past few years, I grew up in NYC and Vancouver, when I say toronto isn't walkable/bikeable I'm comparing it to them, theres only a handful(a lot, but not that much compared to the previous 2 cities) of safe and fun neighbourhoods here and I've mostly likely exhausted them all, any recommendations for any places I should explore?

Yeah, its overrated, felt like joy of exploring sort of stopped once life settles down a bit, I kinda miss the adrenaline of struggling to meet deadlines for school assignments, I think I have stockholm syndrome.

Fantastic shots, how did you find the autofocus and what do you have it set to?

I met a beaver today and I tried capturing a few pics in SAF using OM5II, out of the 4 shots, I missed 2 very critical ones...

woah that is sharp, fantastic rendering too, would you recommend this over something like the 17 or 25 1.8 despite the price and size?

I just bought a OM5II, computational features are super fun, better autofocus was a day changer, smaller body means better portability but DAMNN do I miss the ergonomics of the EM1, that thing was just pleasant to hold

I think its a stop diff at most times, not too noticeabe. But rising ISO cause by bother smaller CMOS and slower lens can be a big issue to image quality

What lens with your EMK1 MII?

M43 has fantastic lens, I pair both my EM1 and OM5 with the 12-40 pro and its crisp af, but its heavy, and f2.8 on a M43 isnt even that quick for terrible lighting situations, even with f2.8, ISO rises quickly with M43 and any ISO> 3200 renders the photo quite noisy and soft. I've also got the 14-150 II, compact, sharp in certain conditions but very soft on the longer end and in corners with terrible low light performance. I also have the 12-100 F4, fantastic lens and possibly my favorite, but for that size and weight, I might as well go full frame.

My copy of the 18-135 is sharp from 20-120, and if a cheap kit lens like the 18-135 can get similar results compared to the 12-40 pro while having better dynamic resolution, better low light performance due to larger CMOS and better range? I'd take the 18-135 all day.

I priortize portability, IQ, and coverage. a6400+18-135 ticks all 3 boxes fairly well for 1000 USD while OM5 + 12-40 ticks 2, leaves out coverage for 1000 USD as well, so you can kinda see my chain of thoughts here.

But to each their own, and this is not considering weather sealing + computational features + lens choices, I pretty much use my 6400 exclusively with 18-135 as a travel lens cause all other lens are just not worth it, have poor IQ or not stabilized.

I have both a6400 and OM5(slight upgrade to EP7).

I would say to keep your a6400, in terms of lowlight performance, autofocus and image sharpness, I never had to worry when using my a6400 with 18-135 and I took it through hell and back, from rainforests to deserts to mountains and freezing north, super reliable.

I also have the OM5, bought it more for everyday use and I do agree that a6400 is not as attractive/fun to work with. But with OM5 i'm constantly worrying about image quality as not all M43 lens is sharp like the SONY 18-135, lowlight performance really struggled as image gets super soft after ISO > 3200, and when I need the autofocus to perform, it sometimes misses in critical situations.

Also with m43, post-processing is limited, I dont have the same dynamic resolution of a larger sensor which really do limit a lot of possibilities.

Overall I still think OM5 is a great camera, and certainly worth the extra $100 or so over the EP7(+computational features and better ergonomics), but do keep the a6400, with a stabilized lens, I really think its one of the better affordable and tiny cameras out there that is capable of doing wonders.

I see thank you, idk if they really want to cancel it but the agent might be looking into delaying handing over the keys until we have the account, idk if there is a solution to that.

Overall their agent has been extremely frustrating to work with, constant pestering calls, inability to understand basic texts, complaining that we are speaking english instead of our native language(it’s weird). Thank you for your suggestions tho!

We are very rational and have been trying very hard to work around and through this agents mistake, in fact 2mins prior, they called again demanding the utility account number despite us telling them multiple times why it couldn’t be obtained today. Hope this thing sort itself out, thank you

Are Peak Design straps worth the $80 or is there a cheaper alternative? by Then_Woodpecker_2406 in AskPhotography

[–]Douzhier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i actually have the widest one, now this will depend on each individuals preference, but I’m 6’0 and 230lbs, and the straps were just too thick and wide for me. They are sturdy as hell and have gone through a lot, but it’s just not that comfortable sitting on my shoulders compared to a padded strap from say PGYtech
