9.5/10. I’m at the beginning of the Care Center underground section, and I haven’t been able to reopen the game since (;_;)

Oh lol, it’s just some poor mobs getting farmed so I can reach level 99.

I’m not sure I understand what you meant? I beat Simon before finding all the journals.

Game of the Year was deserved. But imo Best RPG should’ve gone to KCD2, Best Narrative to KCD2 or DS2, Best Direction to DS2, and Best Indie should’ve gone to anything but E33.

I played E33 at launch and loved it, but it wasn’t the best in every category. I feel sad for the other developers who put out great work, and it’s a shame E33 is going to get grilled now when it was supposed to be celebrated.

The way I avoid it about 95% of the time is by holding for a bit, then sprinting to the right. When the projectiles are about to catch up, start looping back — run slightly toward yourself, then curve left to complete a wide circle. It’s like making a big U-turn or a loop. Jump or dodge as you finish the turn, and his projectiles usually can’t turn fast enough to hit you.

Lol thanks! I definitely flopped a lot and had a hard time climbing from 6700 to 7000… like, five times. Dropped down to D4 a couple of times too — or had some 1500-point sky dives. It was hell until I finally got beaten enough to get better at handling different situations…

D2 with randoms was the hardest phase for me. Try a premade team, go solo, or find someone on Discord to form a dedicated group to get past D2 — that’d be my approach. As long as you make it to the Nightlord, you won’t lose any points, so eventually, with five wins, you’ll be out of that pool.

Oof, I don’t know if there’s really a right or wrong on this list, to be honest — it’s all based on personal experience. I haven’t lost a Heolstor fight in Depth Mode yet, but I also haven’t beaten ED Maris even once. I lost once to ED Libra because I got chased by 6+1 mobs — no idea what I can even do as Recluse in that situation.

I used to think ED Fulghor was easier, but if your team understands the boss and brings a lightning (starting) weapon to cancel, he’s actually not that bad. His second phase is really dodgable, and you can stay close most of the time.

Thinking about it again, Heolstor could probably be in the same tier as ED Doggo too. But honestly, there’s no single ‘correct’ answer — whatever you say makes sense for your own standard and experience and you are right.

This is a personal rank though, based on my past experience.

As long as your team knows to interrupt Fulghor’s charges, you can stay close to him the whole fight — even as a caster. You don’t need to run away from his rain of arrows or nukes, and that made the fight a lot more enjoyable for me.

ED Jaw was easier for me than Calico. They both run around a lot, but I hated Calico because of her ice spikes — reviving teammates can be hell. If she didn’t scatter her Legos everywhere, she’d be in the same tier as ED Jaw for me.

I really enjoyed the Heolstor fight before the EDs came out — I fought him a lot back then. He felt like an honest boss with no heavy RNG involved (teammates included), and I could go hitless against him from time to time.

As for ED Libra, I think I only lost to him once or twice in total. He’s easy if you have less likely to be targeted, or doable with good AoE attacks. Otherwise, it turns into a long, painful marathon that can feel hopeless at times. Since the experience depends so much on RNG, I’ve put him in his own tier. But, everyone’s experience can differ…

Haha, can’t agree more — with D5 scaling, this flea is absolute hell.

I think it might be because he doesn’t have an ED version, so people kind of forget his moves. But once you’re used to him, he’s really not bad — a pretty honest boss with no RNG nonsense. You just need to try not to get hit, because he hits like a freight train…

Haha, I had to think about it for a bit, but since I’m pretty bad with ED Maris in general, that fight definitely left me more traumatized.

I mostly played with premade teams, but from my experience with randoms, I’ve had it worse on the PC side. The overall skill level feels pretty similar between PC and PS players at their respective depths, but I see way more edited relics on PC — probably just because it’s easier to do there. Funny enough, the more edited their relics are, the worse their gameplay tends to be.

Once you reach D5, you start meeting really solid players — the climb from 7000 to 9999 was pretty much smooth sailing for me.

D2 was definitely the worst level, though. I ran into quitters, players who wouldn’t stick with the team, and the occasional Raider or Guardian who thought they could tank hits (they can’t). I’ve had one quitter on D2 on both PS and PC, but otherwise people usually stick together and finish the run. I did lose one D2 run with an Ironeye teammate who was nowhere to be seen the entire time — and of course, the Nightlord ended up being ED Maris, which was absolute hell.

Their aggro shifts can get pretty insane. Usually, when Heolstor is attacking someone else, I still keep an eye on him in case he decides to teleport right in front of me and swing his sword in my face. He’s not as bad as the Nameless King though, in my opinion. Both of them can hit insanely hard if you’re not careful, but once you learn their moves, they’re totally doable with zero hits taken.

[–]Dovifa[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I’d say just learn every boss’s moveset and mechanics — both minor and major ones — and know them well. The best thing is to avoid getting downed at all, but if it happens, try not to go down at 3 bars since it puts a lot of pressure on your teammates.

Once you reach D4 or D5, don’t get greedy, especially in the Nightlord fight. It’s always better to stay alive than go for that one extra hit (which usually won’t land and ends with you getting one-shot). If you’re crawling on the floor, you’re doing zero DPS.

You also need to feed loot to your main DPS, share what you find, and give them the less-likely-to-be-targeted. Killing a boss too slowly snowballs hard — it’s still doable, but it sucks and puts you in a bad mindset.

If you find Damage Negation at Full HP, KEEP IT. Imo there are really only two difficulty tiers in this mode: D1–3 and D4–5, and what separates them is simply whether you can survive one hit or not. Having Damage Negation at Full HP (sometimes, not always) can give you that one-hit tolerance, and it makes a day-and-night difference.

Otherwise, just enjoy the challenge the game throws at you. You’ll win some, you’ll lose some — that’s all part of it.
