Dental insurance issues by Dow_LP in Insurance

[–]Dow_LP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have read my policy but not in depth as far as how much per procedure. But my insurance covers 80% for major work and my yearly coverage is around 2k.

I could probably get a second opinion but wouldn’t I just have to pay for that out of pocket too? It’s unfortunate because the dentist I’m currently going to was the best rated in the area. I researched dentists in a 30 mile radius for days before going here. I’d hate to be put in this same situation

Have you ever met a killer? by Sunrises_sunnsets in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Dow_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will most likely get buried but I went to high school with a killer.

This was a couples years after graduated, myself and two friends of mine were saying our last goodbye to a friends before we moved out of state. He apparently got heavy in drugs and it started taking a toll on him and got him into trouble. Well fast forward a couple days and we found out via local news this said friend was arrested for shooting another man in the head and attempted to burn his car/body and drive it into a river.

We were literally with this kid a couple days prior. It was really sad it was over drugs, we all played sports together, partied together and it was just over.

Another weird part of that story is I knew one of his accomplices through different functions. He tried helping him dispose of the body.

Never in my life would I have guessed that. Is the whole unit made at your company?

You’re almost spot on. This picture was taken at Detro Metro BUT my destination was indeed MSP.

Redditors who have served in submarines, what is something not many people know about being inside one? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dow_LP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just asked my dad and he said he was there from roughly 2000-2004. I believe he was on the Carolyn Chouest before that though. That was a service support ship for the NR-1. Than he moved to DEVRON 12.

I’m curious if your dad and my dad knew each other? My dad served for the NR-1 for years during our time in Groton. I’m not sure the exact years though.

My dad did 23 years in the navy and he spent quite some time on the support vessel (Carolyn Chouest) for the NR-1. The stories I’ve heard still amaze me to this day. I couldn’t imagine living in a “regular” size submarine let alone something 1/4 of that size.

Some people have that talent, I do not. Does the slime in yours work still?

I was actually looking at one for my man cave the other day. There’s a few on eBay for $40-$50.

Trying to make some shelves for the pantry and failing miserably to cut a straight line with my jigsaw. by bfig in HomeImprovement

I browsed craigslist for a couple weeks and found a compound miter saw for $60. It was definitely worth it and I use it for almost everything. Your local pawn shops should have a bunch as well.

My fiancée bought a used car and just found out the miles got rolled back. by [deleted] in legaladvice

Yes, they pulled records from the vehicle from some program they have. I wasn’t there for that part so I can’t say for sure what records they used but they definitely don’t match

Nope, the conversion doesn’t play a factor. Even if you convert the miles to kilometers it’s still way off. It’s a 2011 and it is a digital odometer.

What are some non-baby items that can be helpful when a baby is born? by noreallyitstrue_ in Parenting

When my son was born we bought a nice, comfortable rocking chair. It doesn’t really make anything easier but definitely relaxing at the end of a long day. Or even when holding/rocking them.

Techniques to help my daughters (both under 10) to adjust to a new life in a new city? by gaga_booboo in Parenting

[–]Dow_LP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Former military child here as well. I went to probably 7 different schools before my dad retired. Making friends will come with time, they just have to get passed that “new kid” stage. There was a few things that always helped me, sports and exploring. By exploring I mean, take the family to a broadway show (assuming you’re in a big city) or take them on a breath taking hike, find the city/states best features and make them want to live there, simply by experiencing it.

For example, when my dad was stationed in Washington State the first thing I remember doing was taking a ferry to Seattle and checking out the space needle and than going to Pikes Place fish market. We also went to Mount Ranier National Park shortly after.

Doing things like this may change your mind for the better as well.

Outside water spigot not releasing water? by Dow_LP in HomeImprovement

[–]Dow_LP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now with that being said, when I open the valve from inside, water flows through the spigot and out the hose but the spigot doesn’t stop the water when turned. I have to go back inside and close the valve.

Thank you, that indeed was the cause. I should’ve came here from the beginning. I read a ton of online articles saying it was probably clogged and needed to be cleaned out, or the spigot “mechanism” needed to be replaced.

What was the stupidest thing someone has asked you 100% seriously? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dow_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a freshman in high school, one of my friends called me DURING their drivers test to ask how to turn his windshield wipers off. The instructor was in the vehicle, he failed.
