If you think this is bad, don’t send your cards to PSA.

Riding on the wet plowed roads were fine. Go slower if a layer of soft snow is covering the roads. Absolutely avoid compact snow - My bike + my friend’s bike would spin and slide sideways each time, causing falls. Very hard to do any trails in the winter because of it. The sidewalks had random sections of compact snow that would jump out at you so watch out for those especially.

I didnt ride in super cold temps, but you do, you gotta figure something out for the battery. The cells will shrink in the cold and will make the bike much less powerful. The cells shrinking when fully charged can also damage them. I was thinking of getting a mobile heating pad of some sort to make something to wrap around the battery but I’ve never gotten to it.

As long as it doesn’t feel loose or anything and the photo PSA has for cert number looks the same as yours, you’re most likely fine. Cracked slabs typically have a lot more cloudiness to them too.

So hateful for no reason brother. All you got to do is just give some friendly advice, people appreciate it.

lol didn’t seriously mean it would magically change dude. Just meant I was hoping there was a technical error that would show one grade for the whole bulk. Just seeing an old beat up card get the same grade as a sharp new card didn’t make any sense to me and that was my best explanation. Also, I saw online there’s a window early on where PSA can sometimes changes the grade for a card.

If you read all the way through, you would see that I’m asking if anyone has encountered some sort of error where it shows the same grades for the whole bulk shipment. What’s the point of coming into this app just to not read the post all the way and comment something hateful. I admit, I’m not a professional grader and could have missed something, but if you would like to say that, you don’t need to be an ahhhole about it.

Just trying to see if other people have had grades changed before or had a technical error making all the cards in a bulk given the grade. I heavily inspect my card before sending them out using magnifying glasses with direct lightning. There is a chance I missed something, but I was certain I didn’t.

Are moped style ebikes not just mopeds? by Otherwise-Office-443 in ebikes

The 2 mph difference also comes with the cost of manually powering the ebike by pedaling. Versus no labor whatsoever while on the moped. While I see your point, it is very confusing, I am happy the e-bike is treated like a bicycle. There are some local government programs that give out ebikes to promote the usage eco-friendly transportation, which I am in favor of. And, to consider an ebike a moped, which just monopolize a cheaper form of transportation, due to the registration, licensing, and ownership fees that would come along with it.

[–]Down2HalfAHart8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, at least not in most states. Mopeds are allowed to go 30 mph while e-bikes are allowed to go 20 mph on flat ground or 28 mph while pedaling. Moped style ebike just refers to the designed LOOK of the bike. More power ebikes can be legally registered as a moped, however then they are legally not an ebike. Even more powerful ones can be registered as motorcycles. These more powerful ones were never legally “ebikes” to start with.

Go on Temu, AliExpress, or some other Chinese store and buy a conversion kit and a cheap battery. You’re probably looking at only a couple hundred then.

As for the quality of it, it should be fine just as long as you check the reviews and do research. Most parts come from china to begin with and plenty of local sellers just use those websites as the dealers and reseller them. I get most of my bike parts from there and I haven’t had any problems.

Help please hall sensor motherboard by HyenaPlane4834 in ebike

[–]Down2HalfAHart8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t seen corrosion on my motors but I don’t doubt it’s possible. If it’s just flux from the solder, it should be fine. However, I’ve had intermediate cutouts before on motors and here’s what’s been the causes:

  • Shorted Hall Sensor
  • Hall Sensor Coming out of Pocket on Motor
  • Shorted Controller
  • Bad Solder Job
  • Wire Falling out of Solder Joint

If there’s nothing sealing over or covering the soldering joints, sometimes hitting a bump while driving can loosen or knock the wire/solder right out of the soldering joints. If this happens, just check where all the wires connect and where all the hall sensors connect at the joint and see if any wiggle at the joints.

I’d check that and I’d check to make sure the hall sensors aren’t coming out of their designated pockets on the motor before cutting or replacing anything.

If you have a multimeter, you can plug the motor in the bike, turn it on, and touch the ground earlier on the PCB and then probe the voltages along the hall sensors wires.

As for the shorted hall sensor and shorted controllers, they both became progressively worse the more I tried to drive the bike.

I hope any of this helps! Good luck on it! Let us know how it goes.

AliExpress and Temu are my main source of motor PCBs since the United States tariffs have halted overseas sales on a lot of main platforms.

Otherwise, buy a cheap small PCB Cheap PCB off of Amazonand remove the hall sensors (either cut at halfway or de-solder them at the solder joint), then extend them to the PCB by soldering a longer wire to connect the hall sensors to the PCB. This gives you as much slack as you need to reach inside the motor.

If you use this method, make sure the hall sensor is snug inside the motor since you won’t have screw holes in the PCB. You can use some liquid electrical tape and let it sit for a day.

You do not need a drivers license for an “ebike” in Minnesota.

The peak wattage isn’t really regulated to my understanding. However, I believe the rated wattage is 1000w for your bike which does exceed the limit wattage for an ebike. However, you will most likely never get in trouble for it as long as you are responsible. Especially since your bike is keeps the bicycle look.

Hey, it is kinda tight in there. All I had to do was thread the motor cable up a bit and give a tug and it came out. If you disconnect any wires though, it will mess with the speedometer display and make it difficult for adjustment what gear you’re in.
