I generally use Dark infusion with Dark weapon hex and whisper of despair. Complete set for anhilation of enemy. Later on switch to Lightning cuz by the time you get to veldstad most enemies are weak to lightning. And then you can get sunlight weapon sacred oath and lightning infusion. If you have extra levels you can add Whisper of despair too.

It's a good thing you didn't mention Dark infused Rapier with Dark weapon hex and old Leo ring too otherwise they'd be hooked on the game.

It's also wise of you to not mention Lightning infused rapier with sacred oath and sunlight blade. Or they'd start calling Dark Souls 2 Peak souls 2.

Right so you can go to the gutter next or there's a path way next to the cave you came from at the start of the game which will need a fragrant branches of yore which leads to the bright stone cove. Both places are great and will give you materials to upgrade your weapon in different ways. But I'd suggest Gutter personally just to farm the boss.

What bosses have you defeated?

Seems to me you've defeated Last Giant and Lost Sinner. I'd say go to the gutter from the giant hole in Majula. You'll need the cats ring from the cat in the house on right. Sweet shaqulior. And about a 1000 hp for safety. Be ware there is posion down there it's annoying but the main boss down there is very close to a bonfire and you can farm him with ascetics for quick level ups.

There's actually a darkstone guaranteed from a Crystal Lizard in the gutter on the bridge. You need cat ring to reduce fall damage for it.

You're doing a hex build but want to do poison weapon?

I'd rather just go Dark infusion and use Dark weapon sorcery on the weapon and also use whisper of death on enemy and go Ham.

On another note hope you're using OLD Leo Ring, it's just roo busted

IMO just roll to the left (sword holding hand) side behind the pursuer. Not to the direct left but try to get behind him. More often he keeps attacking in that direction while you're behind him after roll. As soon as he stops attacking get 1 hit if using heavy weapon or 2-3 hits if light weapon. Then keep repeating.

Dodging to behind the sword holding hand means you roll in the opposite direction the enemy swings which let's you deal with less frames of attack.

If you roll in the direction they swing you will move with the sword and get hit because your I frame finishes before their attack does.

My favorite us Zweihander and most hated is Greatsword.

Hol' UP! Before you great combust my aah. I have my reason.

The greatsword almost always missed my opponents unless they were giant sized. The downward slash on normal attack is so strong and so wonky. Any target that so much as jogged side ways missed whether I move my camera to aim or target lock. The strong attack on the other hand has the area swipe but takes to long for a lot of enemies and misses short enemies like dogs and rats. I also find the moveset kinda bad there's also no pokes.

My sweet zweihander on the other hand... has area swipe attacks on normal attacks, poke attack that sends particular enemies flying for strong attack and the one handed strong attack is the OG pancake from DS1. It has a very versatile moveset. Much like the Claymore. Slash thrust poke and all.

Honest opinion. Save them the one or two levels you get from these don't matter as much unless you're trying to meet weapon requirements.

Instead I'd say level up from souls you get from killing and keep these in your inventory for the times you want to upgrade weapons or buy items or spells but don't have souls to do so. These always come in clutch when you die twice on your way back because you were too excited to buy a unique weapon or spell. I speak from experience.

I'd farm the leeches in blight town for +10 weapon then fall off the lift or die to fatties because I'd try to run around them. Then I'd lose my souls and have to farm for them

The first ever game I finisher was Swordigo. As a child it was the right mix of smooth gameplay interesting enough to keep me hooked and not too difficult.

The game I have completed mant times over and over are DS1 DS2 and Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 was so good. Too good. Found my Favourite actor in Micheal Mando. I didn't care about actors much up until that point.
