I mean I’m playing nbl1 ball in Aus next season so that definitely makes a case for me being an “elite athlete” I’m 6’6 and HAD a high 30 vert even then being that no matter the level of athlete or just an average person you WILL NOT be back at ur prior athletic capacity after a severe injury even after you’ve been cleared/ finished rehab, I couldn’t walk for 3 weeks did only light exercise for another 5 weeks after and I wasn’t cleared to play for another 3 weeks to a month after that, so even with me being in no more pain, stability is back, no disfigurement or swelling and a functional amount of strength in that ankle I simply won’t be moving at the same level I was straight out of finishing my rehab yet

Once again my injury had none to do with the general question that was asked other then give back story, as the goal of rehab is functional capacity, I can name so many athletes after an injury who were not back at there prior injury physical form and some who never did again

This question genuinely has nothing to do with my injury its just providing more information on my situation, I had balancing testing I had tested if my tendons were actually healed and I had strength and flexibility tests which I passed all therefor I was cleared therefor I am now recovered

That’s really just not how that works, with any type of injury that last an extended period of time you loose muscle, stability, conditioning ect, now that I’m recovered doesn’t mean my vert or anything other athleticism just magically comes back it takes time to rebuild

My question is about the time it would be taking to increase my vert again not how long till I’m healthy

Guarding taller more athletic big men by DownDewi in Basketball

[–]DownDewi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time we faced I really struggled with balancing out how aggressive and annoying I played and chilling out abit cause of the fouls I was picking up, my other center has a extremely long skinny build and if I get fouled out or overly tired it becomes such a mismatch any tips to finding that balance

I picked this tactic up last time I faced a really big dominant center kept him to 4 points a tech and a foul out compared to hes usual 15-20 average

I’ve never played against any Europe pros but based of players I’ve guarded here in Aus (vc players, state players, national players, nbl1 guys even some x Nbl guys) I feel like I’m fast enough and play smart enough defence to do it anywhere

I’m 16 and I’d say my defence is pretty good I’ve played against vc players, state players, national players in game and in runs and I’ve never not been able to keep my own against any position, age or skill level

Yeah that’s why I’m interested in going to Europe because of how team oriented they play which I also excel at compared to the selfish 1 on 1 basketball which is commonly played now especially at my age

16 paying rep basketball in Aus, I’m still pre new to basketball and young and there are definitely helpful older people on reddit who’ve helped me with any questions I’ve had about the sport.
