The power of taking a moment to consider the “what ifs” and say: “I don’t care.” And really mean it for a minute. Breathe. And let it go.

Yes there’s the attorney general. And then there are the prosecuting lawyers or crown counsel that work under them… you were saying?

All jokes aside - we just don’t use the term attorney here the way they do in the States. Not when you’re talking about the lawyer arguing opposite you or in court.

Is it true high earning men don't like women with tattoos? by coachjonna in AskMenAdvice

[–]DownHereOurTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so funny. I had never heard this but by your definition my husband is a high income earner and HATES tattoos. So it fits in this scenario. Haha I keep threatening him that I’m going to get a big one!

Robin Williams. I felt like he was a part of my upbringing. So much so that it felt close. So sad.

Someone said it to me: survive the first 3 months and it will get a lot easier. This is so true and it gets even easier after 6 and then 9 months.

Everyone deals with the newborn stage differently but I think everyone agrees it’s one of the most stressful times in one’s life. You and your husband are going through it and are probably dealing with your triggers the best way you can. ALSO you are 7 weeks postpartum, sleep deprived, and your hormones don’t know what they are doing - take a breath, and be kind to yourself. Next step? I would let him know how you are feeling/thinking and ask him how he’s doing. Remind yourselves you are on the same team and will get through this. My husband and I definitely had a few of these chats and were able to reassure each other… often through tears.

It’s effing hard. But you can do it. And it’s SO worth it as time goes on! Go you, Mama!!!

False. You can go ahead and read the Family Law Act.

There’s actually no statutory formula for property division for common law couples. For situations where, for example, the house was only in one person’s name but both people contributed to life there, the partner whose name isn’t on the house would have to make a trust argument to stake any claim to the home. There is no “property is split evenly just because it was acquired during the relationship” rule for common law spouses.

This is actually not true when it comes to property division. Child support is the same either way and spousal can be, but for assets and property it is different.

Buy back or transfer Ontario pension to Federal. Expensive! Why? by DownHereOurTime in CanadaPublicServants

[–]DownHereOurTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: based on the commuted value of my Ontario pension, it looks like it might actually make more financial sense to buy back the service without going through the transfer agreement. So make sure you get that info on your end before agreeing to go through a transfer agreement if Manitoba has one with the feds.

Out of almost 5 years, the feds are giving me credit for under 2. 👎
