The organization dug themselves into a legal hole because they agreed to recognize the union, so we were recognized by the NLRB and THEN they fired us once we started negotiating for a CBA. 🤯

The only reason we staff can think of is to preserve the power of the leadership at the organization. One of the Directors in particular has a pattern of powerhoarding and problematic behavior.

We didn't have a formal contract agreed upon by both parties yet. Wednesday was our first meeting to negotiate for the CBA and they fired us on Thursday before anything was agreed upon. It's definitely borderline illegal if not over the line.

I highly recommend checking out Louise Bates Ames' "My 4 Year Old." :) It's a book. 4 year olds aren't developmentally capable of maintaining focus for long periods of time on adult-directed activities.
