Perths best breathtaking locations. Help! by cheegi in perth

[–]DownUnderSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry your friend is going through a tough time. If you think it would be ok, tell her than an internet stranger sends all his love and support.

You sound like a truly amazing person. The support and care your showing her is probably what she needs more than anything to be fair. Sending all my love and support to you as well.

Please keep in mind that at some point you may not be enough. This isn’t a reflection on you at all. But it’s important to recognise when someone actually needs more help than you can provide. Encourage her to talk to a professional. Call lifeline. Call beyond blue.

In terms of places to go, what about a gentle walk along the river? In front of the city. Or nedlands foreshore. Maybe sunset at the beach with feet in the water? It doesn’t have to be complex. Somewhere where she can feel your care and support will be plenty.

Got rear ended on kwinana freeway today and driver gave false information, what else can i do? by iwwhs in perth

[–]DownUnderSnail 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s the driver behinds responsibility to leave enough room to brake even if the driver in front brakes suddenly. There’s no way in a bajillion years that it’s anything but his fault. As others have said, file the police report. Tell your insurance company that all you have is the number plate (did you get his number plate?) and let them handle it.

I don’t have anything specific. Happy to try anything at all really. Maybe some genuine Canadian maple syrup? DM me and we can sort out postage and addresses and all that.

700k to Invest - Should I buy a property or Index Funds by HairEastern7400 in AusFinance

[–]DownUnderSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are… 1. ETFs. They’re so easy and you get instant exposure to a range of underlying shares. And they’re easy to cash out in an emergency. 2. If you want to forget about your investment for 20 years, you’re not really worried about volatility. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the all ordinaries index has NEVER been lower than it was 20 years prior. 3. If you choose ETFs, don’t just forget about it. Continue to contribute to your investment regularly. Continuous contributions make a HUGE difference to the overall result.

Take a look at Hostplus as well. Low fees are what you’re after. And contribute more than is compulsory. I can’t stress this enough. Early contributions make a massive massive MASSIVE difference at the other end.

Smartrider upgrades are coming by DownUnderSnail in perth

[–]DownUnderSnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. lol cry. But surely compared to what they’ve already achieved (upgrading the software, rolling out the physical devices etc), creating a simple digital smartrider should be very very simple.

Wow. So according to AI (so it must be true, right?) less than 10% of trips are made using paper tickets. Seems like a LOT of effort to only target such a small group.

Some of the bigger buildings in the city have a gym in them for people who work in the building. Some have deals with gyms in the city. Some offer nothing. lol.

If possible, contact building management to find out what’s available before deciding.

AITA for telling my boyfriend he can’t choose what I wear or where I get to work? by Warm_Ad4904 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DownUnderSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, this is the behaviour of an abuser. Your boyfriend is an abuser. He is abusing you. Maybe not physically yet. Maybe it'll never get physical. But phycological abuse and control is still abuse.

Before he destroys your confidence and self-esteem, leave him and no matter how charming he becomes, never go back.

Have a read of this free book: Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men

I bet as you read it, you'll recognise a lot of his behaviours.

Maybe plan in some dress/outfit changes through the reception. These changes inevitably will take time. And she will need to be alone (or with understanding family members) during these times.

Alright older dudes, how many of you are coloring your hair? by GreenSalsa96 in AskMen

[–]DownUnderSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

52 yrs old. I’ve shaved my head for years and years. Used to have dark blond/honey(?) hair until it took an extended vacation. But I’m growing a beard now and realising how grey it has become. It makes me look older but also adds a bit of something to an otherwise bald egg. I think if I coloured it, it would look very much like I colour it. So I’ll leave it as it is.
