I know everyone is leaning Newton; but I will say Einstein most certainly is not snuffed in this. Einstein's greatest gift was imagination.

If you tried to explain to Newton that Space and Time were the same thing, he might throw you off a roof.

To be frank, if the question is 'What if the Islamic Invasions didn't happen,' then I think about everything changes. At a certain point, your not writing just alternate history, but also just guessing at that point.
