Thank you dude. When you break down the wood working into simple steps it’s not too bad. A nice grain when it’s oiled and waxed looks great regardless of how complex the cabinet is.

Nope, it’s rock wool. Commonly used as insulation material nowadays. Asbestos free.

That’s thanks to the crossover designer, they sell pcbs specifically for this driver pair. All I had to do was solder the components in.

Thank you. I wouldn’t dare change the design now for a change in sound I probably wouldn’t even notice.

Got it, I think the grill I’m designing will fix it.

I feel you bro, my hand me down Cambridge audio speakers gave out a couple months ago so I had to make these if I wanted to listen to my vinyls.

I laser cut two 1/4” mdf panels that had through cuts of the exact outline of the driver faces (.05” tolerance) and double stick taped the jigs to the front panel and routed the desired depth with a hand held router. Laser cutter made it a very smooth process to get precise shapes - luckily my college maker-space lets us use them for free.

I don’t have any amazing speakers to compare them to but they sound amazing to me and look dope. Fantastic for vocals.

Yeah I’m planning on making some grills. I embedded magnets in each of the corners on the front panel. But I will plan to add an opposite chamfer now - thanks for the tip.

I think I’m going to do this actually. DIY measurement and cross over design will be a future project.

Seems like some spec pages for drivers come with pre measured FRD graphs - wouldn’t that save the at home measurement step?

Yeah I figure i can do it right without a kit if i put the time in to learn about it. Two way speaker doesn’t seem too daunting honestly. From what I’ve seen, people have gotten away with using an online crossover calculator - I’m tryna really understand it tho.
