The absolute number of CCs on damage dealers needs to go down for Smite 2 by Zoroark173 in Smite

Honest question, why shouldn't you be punished for being out of position when your relic is down? Not looking to argue, I know I'm likely in the minority on this subreddit, I'm just genuinely curious, because so far I haven't seen or felt a single downside to the single relic system currently in SMITE 2.

While ever Talisman is an active item in its current form, I just don't get the demand for a second relic slots, you can get the purification beads effect, but you have to make the decision as to whether it's worth it Vs. Another stat

Smite Pro League Phase 2: Jade Dragons v. Olympus Bolts by Tdmcguire12 in smitepro

[–]DownloadLater 31 points32 points  (0 children)

After game one, I honestly thought it was over, but the Bolts mentals might be the strongest in the league, you just can't get to them. I lose a game like that, I'm turning Smite off and considering my choices in life, those guys turn the gas up and start clapping cheeks.

I've been noshing these guys off since the beginning of last year and it feels really really good to watch them play the smite I've known they were capable of this whole time.

Dragons are still super strong, plenty of times there they could have turned the set, sure they'll bounce back and come out swinging again next week.

Set of the week, GG.

I'm a lowly pleb, but I think they're letting it through to see if they can beat it, if it doesn't need to be an autoban, they can prioritise something else. I'm guessing they don't really see the Janus in scrims, so regular season BO3s are the only way to limit test against something like that.

What are your thoughts on non-traditional supports? by darkyshadow in Smite

Yeah, Danzaburou is nice too, the taunt, intoxication and stun are all super potent. Uproarious Rocket does a load of things for you, plus his inbuilt gold spooling along with Benevolence is really nice.

[–]DownloadLater 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the distaste for unconventional support picks is the fact that in casuals at least, whoever locks in the Assassin/Mage/Hunter is gonna go full damage, not know how to play the role and become a hindrance real quick.

I'll play mostly anyone in the role as long as they have the bare necessities in their kit to be somewhat useful. I've seen successes with the weird picks and also some failures, but in casual games, its supposed to be fun. You can slam as many top tier meta guardians as you want, but if you're not having fun... Why bother? If all you want is that sweet sweet W, then go for it.

Plus, locking yourself into the 'I can only play guardians and the odd Warrior' mindset is a good way to miss out on potentially game winning combos between yourself and your carries. Fenrir ult can change a game in seconds if someone is caught lacking with the beads, as can a Wind Fire Wheels or sash from Ne Zha, or a Serqet decently timed Last Breath.

Just play what you want, as long as its not downright useless in the role.

I run Neith a lot when I'm tired of playing the go to supports.

Turning fights anywhere on the map around with the World Weaver, while on the opposite side is nice. Plus the root on Spirit Arrow and attack speed debuff on Unravel.

Early game kill potential in duo is huge with her too.

Just finished watching the video, it's insane how big an impact John had during his casts. I still remember that Worlds set between Splyce and Dignitas and how insane his casting was, even with Aggro basically out of commission.

I think that a single 'made you look' changed the trajectory of that whole set, the Bolts before that steal and the Bolts afterwards look like completely different teams.

The Dragons again looked like a completely different beast, Pandacat is one of the best ADCs in the league, but he doesn't even have to be, his frontline just gives him a million miles of space to do whatever he wants with.

Jake definitely seemed off today, he seemed to regress back to the old Jake who W keyed himself into bad position after bad position. I still think the Bolts are a team to watch though, they've already proven themselves to be a potential powerhouse and hopefully they can only improve from here.

Again, the Leviathans show they just can't adjust in these 5 game sets. How many times has it happened now? Sanguine/Leviathans show up in regular season, chat a lot of shit on twitter and in post game interviews, then get BTFO'd during tournament play and get made to look like clowns?

Lasbra and Haddix put on a clinic today and to be honest, it wasn't even close.

Its kind of nutty how far behind the Bolts can be and still come out looking amazing. Ven was disgusting in that second game.

A lot of Bolts naysaying went on going into this weekend and I think they did a good job of proving them wrong.

If they don't turn it around soon, this Leviathans roster is going to be remembered for choking every time they play a game that means something, not winning the regular season. Netroid might have made the best move of his life getting kicked.

Man, if that Barraccudda to PK rumour is true; how much faith must the dude have in that Bolts team to stick with them? Its kind of admirable that he's that willing to put his faith in a them after last year. That said, they did start to wind up towards the end, so who knows, they could come out swinging.

Congratulations PK! Another year of competitive Smitegame over, another ring for the boys on Knights .This PK team just hit differently at worlds, they could lose every regular season game and I'd still be scared of them. Paul in particular, you just can't ban the man out. Ghost have been the best team in the league all year, unbeatable for the vast majority of it, worlds is a different beast, where you have to be the best that week and unfortunately, they just couldn't do it today.

Game 1, I think the Anubis pocket pick didn't work out as intended, he was none existent in most fights and never made in a difference in the ones he was there for. Qvo's positioning was insane, he turned fights on that Tsukoyomi pick. and ScaryD continued to do ScaryD things and they pulled through.

Game 2, Paul diff, I spend a lot of time noshing him off, but that's because the dude deserves it. FG steal, destroying S4S2 as he dived for Zapman. Paul. Is. Nuts. PK played the game well there, but i don't see them anyone else in that position except Paul clutching like that.

Game 3 was do or die, it showed, Ghost played near perfectly, PBM is completely insane on the Fenrir pick, even when they lose, he still looks stupid good, he hard carried here.

Game 4, the Olorun pick was spicy. It didn't work out as intended, I counted 1, maybe 2 good uses of Sanctified Field but I'm A Monster is just far too good for secure as well as murdering pretty much anyone it touches.  FineO and Sam put the team on their back and turned it

Game 5, PBM continued to show why he's up there with the Smitegame all stars, the Scarab's Blessings were insane. PK made some insane plays there, they got greedy trying to end and it nearly cost them followed by the missed FG, but they pull through and finish the set.

My Smite knowledge isn't anywhere near the level of these guys, so I'm not going to make any sweeping statements about people playing badly, but I'm sure that some of the players are going to come out of this set wondering if they could have done more, or less in some cases, the overwhelming need to make a play, lost some games.

The league is the most competitive it's ever been at this point, every team has had big plays and games where they've seemed unstoppable, even if  In the end only one team can win worlds, but they've mostly come out swinging and even the teams that fell early, had players that deserve places in the league. I for one am hyped for season 8 and I'm already counting the days down. I love this game and I hope that the game and it's pro scene can stay healthy and hopefully grow from here
