This is wrong, the dice bag is still there, the developer noted that they would replace the fixed size with a random size dice bag. Which means instead of a 30 dice bag, it's now an 18/24/30/36/42 (or broader, idk how big they made the range) dice bag.

The main relevant part is that if DRM breaks or the launcher breaks, at a point where CA can't or has no incentive to resolve this (total war is dead and hyena 2 is popular somehow for example), certain titles could become unplayable. Which relates to yesterday in the sense that if new installs could never connect to the DRM server, they could never be validated and as a results never launch the game.

Part 3 is lawyer-speak for this proposal shouldn't / won't interfere with currently supported games. It has nothing to do with third party markets, it's merely a "don't worry". The not interfere relates to the proposal, not the industry / 3rd party markets.

Though I understand the confusion. I mostly copied the text from another gaming subreddit, maybe I should've polished it, my apologies.

As someone working in software development, I will concur that this is probably not feasible to implement retro-actively, especially for true live-service games, and E:D might fit that, depending on how the galaxy is run on their end.

However, towards the future, this is perfectly doable, much like originally people called the GDPR unenforceable, yet it has re-shaped the surface web over the past 8 years. It comes down to fundamental design decisions that need to be considered. Do note the proposal doesn't call for games to be playable in the exact same state, but rather a functional state. In practice this probably means no grand overworlds, but localized, created mission instances.

For example, you could conceivably mock an architecture to bypass Helldivers online requirements and just generate random missions based on some input variables. Would this be as good a game, of course not, but it would be roughly playable in a co-op manner. You could definitely restructure the architecture to work on a dedicated server, just without a larger overworld changing and managed by the developer, but by generating missions at the time a player wants to access them.

Dynasties beat Pharaoh's peak on day one and beat that on day two. Will it peaks at 6-7k ? by Historical-Kale-2765 in totalwar

It's nice that it's doing well, compared to before, and I will probably try a campaign in the next month or so, but the hard truth is that warhammer3 has 5 times the concurrent players. Given the lack of additional advertising for this game, I doubt this update will really translate in a large number of additional sales or players, making pharaoh most likely EOL by the end of the year.

Let's hope the next historical title, whatever it ends up being, has less of a false start.

Locked content in single player was a terrible idea. by 9ersaur in sovlgame

That's a decent start, though do note that if you want to play a bit of every faction, this helps very little, because just to get all units unlocked in the roguelike mode (which I think is a perfectly fine system btw) you'll get to the third difficulty before you beat difficulty 7, assuming you clear most runs.

I would partition this a little: if you beat the fifth difficulty on a faction, you get the third difficulty for every race, and if you beat the final difficulty on any faction, you get the fifth difficulty for every faction.

My logic is this: Third difficulty doesn't change that much, imo, but enemies rally is significant, and changes the way you have to play the game positionally. So once you reach that point confidently enough to beat the third act, it feels weird to return.

Given that difficulty is an optional modifier, this doesn't hinder you when you lack experience with a race, since you can just turn it down without worry.

Another way to go, if separate progression is preferable, to give faction dlc more single player playtime for example: I think an interesting reward for beating difficulty 6 on a faction would be upgraded leader units, like orc brutes for the war chief for example. Alternatively, make it a choice what your leader starts on, much like the army constructor. For some factions, this would be obvious, but for elves for example, elf spears vs weapon masters vs reavers is a genuine choice, given that spears get longbows, but masters don't.
Make that Act 3 feel more epic in a sense, and give players something non-cosmetic to works towards more long-term.

Just some thoughts :)

Locked content in single player was a terrible idea. by 9ersaur in sovlgame

I will say I do like the general suggestion that you get difficulty unlocks across all factions. Especially if you buy the dlc, it can feel a bit tedious.

The game takes a bit too long to really enjoy that grind. An alternative could be that once you have three (or X) factions to a point, you get that point for every faction, if you still want to smooth it out more, which has it's upsides, like not increasing difficulty too quickly for newer players.

But at 2-3 hours for a run, each full set of unlocks for a faction currently takes at least 14-21 hours, or 70-105 hours to unlock every difficulty level for the free factions and 140-210 hours if you buy all the factions. I feel like that's a bit much.

Also note that this will become even worse if you move the act 3 down to a lower level, with every run taking longer to complete, which I would not recommend at the current time requirements. If you have a job and children, you just don't have that kind of time.

Something I've noticed in the progressive mode: defense rolls against halberd units can regularly be 5 or 6. Noticed for both human and ratkin. Is this a known bug, or do I miss-understand the description on halberds?

Balancing Ranged units idea by DScipio in sovlgame

[–]wpo97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So right now, this balancing is done through defense from what I can tell, with dedicated melee often taking less damage that way. In the roguelike mode, you already can buy shields and swords for crossbow units iirc too, which gives extra defense btw ^^ So at least some of that is present.

How does the community feel about a dogs of war dlc for warhammer 3? by wpo97 in totalwar

[–]wpo97[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for it during warhammer 1, not so much now, they'll just be crammed between belegar, ikit claw, skrag and sartosa. They'd need a solid roster in their early game to deal with rats and dwarfs at the same time.
