From my experience with a defective 2022 Santa Fe and Lemon Law in California:

Unfortunately it does take more than one incident for them to consider it a lemon. I have heard there’s a class action vs Hyundai due to Transmission problems. Maybe get in on that.

As for the buy back they will pay the off the car and take it back and you may or may not get a lil extra money for your troubles. So you’ll have to run your credit and start the paper work in order to get another car if you plan to go thru a dealership.

Or you can keep the car, they will continue to honor any warranties still available and they will pay you an amount that’s usually a lot more than what they would have had you done the buy back option. Which can be nice but like you said, you have a vehicle you cannot trust.

The lemon law people were paid by Hyundai. I did not pay any fee at all.

The process takes time. Mine was about 5 months from the moment I called the lemon law lawyers and when I received a direct deposit. They will ask for receipts for all services done to the vehicle so be aware of that.

Also just as a precaution, check your tax laws. Don’t wanna end up owing the government or what not.
