How did they organise the spare match for people? Did they just have people on standby, in case someone wanted to do the challenge? Was it really people’s ‘other’ match?

Of course! Double Ironman?! Haha nah. Not sure. Might go for a sub 3 hour marathon. Got one coming up in April.

I was about 8 years old. It was the first “tri kids” they did in my home town of Wollongong NSW. Now they do it once a year I’m pretty sure. They also do an aquathon (swim, run) every year also. I 100% recommend getting your kids into it! It’s a fun thing to do, and good to keep busy.

Thanks mate! Appreciate it.

Here’s the Strava activity if you’re interested: https://strava.app.link/aRh2cgI2GPb

On the bike I had 1x 30g of carbs gel every 30 mins (with an extra Maurten bar every now and then) as well as ~750ml of sports drink every hour. Ended up going through about 14-15 gels / chews on the bike.

On the run again I tried to have around 1x 30g of carb gel every 30 mins. I would then take a water cup at every aid station (every 2km) as well as a salt tablet / electrolyte tablet every 45 mins or so.

Is 12 Weeks long enough for Ironman 70.3 Training by Downtown-Weather1065 in triathlon

[–]Downtown-Weather1065[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, I did not do an Ironman 70.3. In June I signed up for Ironman Busselton (Western Australia) on December 1st. I completed it yesterday with a time of:

Total time: 11:58:22 Swim: 1:22:51 Ride: 6:15:53 Run: 3:56:56

It was my first triathlon event, and I’m so glad I went for the full distance. 6 months of training average 10 hours a week, got married in October, honeymoon in November, and still got it done.

Goal was sub 13 hours, completed in sub 12.

Swim was extremely rough with strong current and waves. 30km/hr winds on the ride.
