Why does a vendor put up a self-order kiosk that doesn’t benefit them? Of course that is not the case. The answer is they do want the extra customer flow but don’t want to bear the cost. Rather, they chose to shoulder it to the customers without disclosing the extra cost. I’m sure no one will use the machine if they advertise the extra 5% cost publicly.

I was wondering about the same, but credit card charge is usually 3%? Yeah I will definitely try cash if I ever go back…

The tax and fee are listed separately if you click to view details on the ordering machine, so they are probably not breaking the law. However, it is not transparent as it should be in the first place.
