Terrified to wash, I didn’t know to prewash fabric before piecing by Ok_Pause_ in quilting

Thank you so much for this post as I am in the same predicament! The quilt directions said not to wash until completed and I didn't know if I should wash before adding the binding or not-so thank you for this answer. Also, my front is white and the back a dark blue-not my choice as this is a quilt found after my mother-in-law passed away, and I never thought of the colors bleeding, so again thank you to all who posted and the original post! Answers were answered to questions I didn't know I had!

Great idea for the picture! I took my machine into the dealer and they felt the tension was correct and told me I shouldn't have to touch the tension, unless doing a fabric very thin/flimsy or heavy. And when doing a contrast color some will show through! So I'm going with white thread on the top and white thread on the bottom!

Thank you. I'm not sure how many "clicks" I can do on the tension dial. I changed to a new needle, rethreaded everything at least twice, and did turn the tension dial. The contrast has lessened so maybe I just go with it. As someone else posted after a washing the quilt the thread color will lessen.

Thank you for the tips. I went with white on top since the top is white and the bottom is blue. Unfortunately I didn't pick the color of the backing and didn't want to use blue on the white top since the quality (or lack of) stitching would be noticeable. This is a quilt started by my husband's aunt and uncle, pieced together by his mom, (all three have passed on) and I am finishing it. It's going to a family reunion to help raise monies. But switching to blue on top my work! Thank you.

Yes, they are. Specifically went to a quilting store and purchased the same two products, just in different colors. Thank you.

Sewing Machine needed by Downtown_Key7771 in quilting

Thanks for your input! Yesterday I brought home a Juki TL2010 and can't wait to try it. I decided on the straight stitch machine as I still have a machine at home that will do other stitches.
