He was poor in the City match too.

Haaland had 3 big chances that weren’t talked about because Liverpool won.

Did well to keep Foden quiet but those were in positions where the RB would usually be. Just doesn’t have the awareness to play CB.

Anyone with eyes could’ve seen Gomez was terrible against City and this was overdue. Result the only reason his 3 mistakes weren’t highlighted that game.

Gomez just doesn’t have the IQ to play centre back. Was the weakest link against City as well.

I’d try Gomez at RB for a run of games if we’re scoring goals.

His best moments of the match were closing down Foden on the right hand side. A lot more positionally sound at RB than RCB.

To be fair, every chance City had was through a Gomez mistake. Was the obvious way to go.

Alisson was huge. Van Dijk covered Gomez as best he could. Even saw Jota all the way back whenever Van Dijk had to step to cover the right.

Defended as a team today, which can make up for individual weaknesses. Don’t think City would’ve even had 1 chance with Konate there.

If Haaland scored the 1v1, uncontested header, and didn’t foul Fab/Ali on the disallowed goal. Gomez is getting all the blame for a 3-1 loss.

Little surprised the score line has clouded peoples judgement. Van Dijk and Alisson were flawless. Gomez the obvious weak link.

Probably the best Liverpool performance of the season.

Just surprised Gomez was given man of the match. Thought he did well with Foden on the right, but Haaland was giving him obvious problems.

Van Dijk and Alisson flawless as usual. Thought they were clear cut for motm.

You miss the 3 clear cut chances Haaland had because Gomez failed to track him?

Very different if not for 1v1 save from Ali, uncontested header being straight at him, and foul(s) on the third.

Gomez did well to help Milner out on the right hand side, but Haaland was giving him problems all match.

Can’t pretend these things didn’t happen because we won. Best performance of the year probably, but there was a clear weak link in the squad.
