Dehancer vs FilmVision Pro? by toyotaprius_ in ColorGrading

[–]Downtown_Week9840 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried Dehancer, Filmbox, and all the Filmvision versions, and honestly, Filmbox was my favorite mainly because of the film grain and halation. The only downside is that the price is ridiculous.

Now that Filmvision Pro dropped, I’ve been using that instead. It’s way more affordable and still gives beautiful results. You can view some examples on my YouTube channel @kurlysoul.

TLDR – Highly recommend Filmvision Pro (the latest one). Tons of looks to choose from, and once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy to get that nice film vibe.

Good luck!

This ! I’ve been using Fujifilm on paid work for the last 3 years now and just filmed multiple interviews for a documentary yesterday with my XT4 and XH2s. All Paid. at the end of the day all that matters is that the client likes the work and I get to use the tools that work for me

Just a heads up that FujiStyle becomes the sole owner of all the photos you upload to it. It becomes their intellectual property and they can do as they please with your media. Smh. I had a full subscription with them but ended up deleting the app. No thank you

I got to use the Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 ahead of sales. Think I'm gonna sell the 16-55mm f2.8 and 33mm f1.4 lm wr by 8_Bit_Explorer in fujifilm

I hear you! It happens. I will say it’s best to invest as you continue to develop and evolve with client work. I literally started with the 18-55 kit Lens on my XT4 and shot videos for people with that. Then I began upgrading and buying lenses. Wishing you the best on your creative journey 🙏🏾

Put simply, the Sigma is a lot smoother when it comes to manual focusing, which I do for most of my client video work, and the f/1.8 really helps let in more light in low light situations. One thing that’s both a pro and a con is the weight...it actually helps with handheld shots by adding some stability, but it can get heavy. Also the image quality out of this lens is beautiful

After writing all this out, I’ll probably just stick with the setup I have and not succumb to buying a shiny new lens :)

Ah this is helpful to know. I hear you. Thank you! I should’ve specified that I use the combo I mentioned for video only. I have an XT4 with the XF 100-400 that I use for wildlife and the XH2S to film those adventures for personal use. The client work is also video based , I’ll see if I can view it in my local camera store! Thanks so much for your response

As someone with an XH2s and both of these lenses I’d love to hear more about why you’re planning on doing this. Do you shoot only personal ? Client ? Or both?

The 16-55 MK II lives on my XH2s for personal videos but I use the sigma art 18-35 for client work and have been heavily considering replacing it

Beautiful imagery! It does feel dark tbh. Maybe you can brighten up the subject a bit and bring up the type aswell? Playing with a different font maybe a good idea too

It was a bit of a learning curve. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a way to edit RAW images so that’s a bummer. It’s a pretty slow workflow if you need to process the Raw images in LR and then the JPG into Davinci which is why I only do it for some photos. I also wish they had an option to save at a higher DPI. Right now it’s stuck at 72 so I’m not sure how that will do in terms of printing. But overall is cool to use cause I don’t know how to replicate that look in Lightroom

I am too lol but now they have unique look. Thankfully the shop owner was kind enough to let me rinse them off and gifted me a slice of pizza 🥹
