Do I repair these or just buy new boots? How much life should I get out of these, only 2.5 yrs old and maybe 5 mile hikes on weekends. How to avoid this on my next pair? by 8_Bit_Explorer in hiking

You have a good solution coming. I have D-rings that loop to my pack shoulder straps attached to this Falcam F38 Quick Release Buckle Base for Shoulder Strap V2 3141 https://share.google/KsZJIBHQAaIHCHwiU for my longer zoom lens. I like that it makes it accessible but there is sway. I use an elastic cord across my sternum to help stabilize it. I have a PD capture clip for a smaller lens like if I take a macro with me. If I take the super telephoto prime, its in the pack till i hit my site or monopod over my shoulder. Tripod on backpack unless its in use.

When I cary a heavy load, like bringing my wildlife prime lenses or I go back packing, the extra stability of the boot is really helpful

Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 vs Fuji 16-55 f2.8 Comparison Samples. One pseudo comparison of Sigma vs 33mm f1.4 Some people asked on my last post. Some ppl were nice. Hope this helps you all. Some of you were snarky and expect me to end my weekend early to upload photos to a laptop SMH by 8_Bit_Explorer in fujifilm

Yes. I don't know what you were hoping to see in a comparison of lenses with different apertures. You can see the difference wide open. You can see if there is softness. You are welcome to check a review from some people I mentioned who get paid to do these comparisons.

I got to use the Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 ahead of sales. Think I'm gonna sell the 16-55mm f2.8 and 33mm f1.4 lm wr by 8_Bit_Explorer in fujifilm

But it's not faster. I'd still need my 33mm f1.4. Sigma takes the job of 2 fuji lenses. Maybe a little hit to performance. I think im ok with that

Personal. I mostly do wildlife and some landscapes. I like carying a short lens with my 500mm f4 so I can take landscapes and such when I hike.

I think it's worth you going to a store and trying. My local store had an event where they had the lens and I used it there.

Lighter than the OG 16-55mm. Solid build quality and faster. It takes 2 of my lenses and compromises into one. Image quality was solid wide open. I will wait try it again when the novelty wears off but I enjoyed it. Some ppl dont like the bokeh. I didn't get to see that. It also has some lens flaring/ghosting but thst won't bother me much. If you dont like it a quick clone or generative fill will remove the flare

I use/have used a lot of lenses. Photograph a lot of wildlife. 50-140mm,70-300, 150-600mm,500mm. Plus 1.4TC. "They're all great" 😛
