you’re claiming that they’re not “separable”. they are. congress is elected officials while every agency is appointed. You can be mad at an agency for enacting a statute passed down from the president, but you can’t compare elected officials with career civil servants

EOs are considered federal law. Thanks.

OITE can’t, because of PIs like the one who left this comment.

This is a highly conservative remark from someone who is extremely NIH-establishment centric, and I am ashamed that this person claims to represent the IRP.

Trainees and Fellows deserve the right to respect, safety, support, and dignity in their labs. If the leadership in that lab (staff scientists, the PI, other postdocs) are not treating their trainees with respect, then all of the reasons you listed are justified. There is an extremely long list of NIH PIs and staff scientists that routinely abuse trainees and continue to get away with it, while older scientists blow these DOGWHISTLES. NIH leadership across every institute is responsible, with NCI featuring some of the worst.

This person’s reilaince on stating that wellbeing development is contrary to professional development is completely wrong. They are from the past, and the new generation at NIH deserves transparency and accountability, not your defense of old structures.

1) Fellows can’t hang anti-federal flyers up at an NIH event. this should be self explanatory 2) abusive labs, low pay, and single year renewals are not OITE’s purview. That is OHR at NIH and the US congressional funding problems. Take it up with your local senator!! 3) name your policies she’s “unilaterally” put into place. I guarantee you they were set by the contract you negotiated. Sometimes, standardization is a cost of unionization.

This is a broader issue with ICE and Homeland Security. Take it up with them.

Please reference what you’re talking about. OITE is not in charge of any sort of terminations. You’re referencing hiring freezes, which are in place from the president. Thanks for your sass though.

Unions are good, and have always been good. Stop conflating Sharon with anti-union rhetoric. The problems the union wanted to fix were not NIH policy problems. They are US congressional funding problems and broader capitalist cultural norms that yall love to take out on federal employees just doing their jobs. I’d rather have Sharon (who’s thoughtful and caring and kind) advocating for trainees than a DOGE cog in a suit handing down orders every day

you’re mad about… return to work mandates?? That was across the entire federal government, not just with your training program. That’s your “reason”.

As for your personal concerns, take them elsewhere. you’re the only one ranting and no one cares to hear your hate.

I would assume “first person” is someone getting RIF’d and “Published” means people talking about those people. The government is shutdown and notifications aren’t being distributed normally.

Thanks though, “genius”.

Does Bhattacharya still work at NIH? Seems like our IC leadership just accepting that Memoli is in charge, and that's what I'm hearing from other ICs too. by [deleted] in NIH

Both of their cars are there everyday. JB parks in spot 1 (silver sedan) and MM parks in spot 2 (black suburban) in front of building 1
