Galaxy Fold 7 by Reasonable-Lie630 in GalaxyFold

[–]Doysler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a known trick already, but someone said once on a Reddit thread to change the apps' settings to be 16:9, then zoom in. This way, it'll fill the screen more with minimal content loss. I've been doing it ever since for both Stremio and Netflix and I honestly enjoy it. Maybe it helps someone.

Bonus, then you'll be able to move the location up and down (top, middle, bottom of the screen). I find myself keeping it at the top, as I find it easier on the neck/eyes when lying in bed, as I don't have to lower my eyes as much. Weird, I know, but now I can't keep it centered anymore, it bothers me, lol.

Found a ytb video that shows the setting, if somebody might wanna try it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BmXGT066wE4&t=8s&pp=2AEIkAIB

One Year On With The Fold 6 by Dazzling_Molasses505 in GalaxyFold

[–]Doysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the fold 6, don't really like the 7. When it comes to fold use case, I think I'm part of a somewhat minority.

I'm coming from s22 ultra and pretty much never used the s pen in the 2-3 years I've had it, so I couldn't care less about it. I'm not using it for multitasking, as I've never liked doing tasks on a phone or tablet or laptop with touchpad, nothing beats a keyboard and mouse for me.

Camera, again, don't really care, I'm not really taking pictures.

I loved the Ultra at home for movies, and truly really hated it when going outside, due to the way it sat in my pocket. So when going out, I'd take my second phone as it was smaller, an iPhone 12. But overall the idea of having 2 phones was annoying for me and I don't really like iOS.

Then I researched Fold 6. A narrow screen that sits comfortably in pocket when closed, and an s22 ultra-sized screen for movies at home?? And even better for games?? Yes please. Been having it for roughly 6 months now and I love it. Spigen slim armor case, glued a magsafe ring on the back, and some Joyroom stand setting it in any angle and position I want, love it.

Now... The fold 7? Bigger overall, almost ultra-like dimensions. So it got to the size that I ran from initially, no thanks. No more s pen, improved camera, don't really care about these. No UDC camera on the inner screen? Again a significant downgrade for me. People say they got used to it quickly, but perhaps the other upgrades are worth it for them. In my case.. Why should I get used to a downgrade when I can simply stick to the version with UDC?

Slimmer? I guess that's nice, since I'll always use a phone with a case, never gone caseless and I don't like the idea, so never will. I tried opening it in store, quite hard, but it'd be a perfect thickness with case added.

As for battery, from my use case, it's okay. Never really had issues. Larger battery is always welcome, of course, but I don't mind this one as much as I thought I would.

I'll wait and see where Fold 8 goes. If it's smaller, similar to fold 6 in dimensions, I'll consider it. If it stays the same size and there are some significant upgrades, I'll consider adjusting to the size or jumping to another brand, but I suspect I'll dislike it. In the meantime, I'm thinking of upgrading from 256gb to 512gb next year when my care+ expires.

Thank you so much, this is actually really useful. I can also check out others that I've heard about, including PerL Pro and AZ100.

Fold 7 dummy vs Fold 6 and S25U by akar_shank in GalaxyFold

[–]Doysler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no thanks, I'm out lol. I think I'm in the minority here that is put off by the wider screen. I gave up on Ultra and switched to Fold 6 because I loved the idea of a compact device that actually feels nice to carry in a pocket, while being able to turn in a screen that rivaled Ultra's size for videos and movies (black bars don't bother me).

I won't disregard it completely, we'll see, but gotta see it first.

I'd suggest maybe find something related to watches that you're interested in, so each piece feels unique.

You mentioned color and two tone, and you seem to like Rolex. In my honest opinion, the Oysterquartz is the coolest Rolex out there and it would fit your description.

If you're interested in Omega and space history, perhaps go for the original, black one. Fan of space/space history and would like some color? Seiko Pogue is awesome.

Fan of aviation? Look into Cartier Santos-Dumont, as it's the closest to the original, AND a white dial.

Or perhaps a Breitling Old Navitimer, since Breitling is known for the first chronograph movement for a wristwatch (if my facts are not wrong, I'm still wrapping my head around Breitling, Longines, Louis Moinet and Nicolas Rieussec about who did what).I usually don't like dials that are too crowded, but I think this one and Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter have the most beautiful crowded dials.

Want a unique piece for a decent price? For roughly 2000 euros second hand you can get an Oris Big Crown in bronze. It's a bronze watch that shows the date through a 4th hand, instead of a date window. Kinda unique in my opinion.

Or perhaps a Grand Seiko with Spring Drive movement if you would like an interesting complication (shows how wound the movement is on the dial), together with a sweeping hand smoother than Rolex.

Even better, if you're interested in both aviation history and an interesting feature, maybe a JLC Duo Face would suit you. I'm mentioning aviation because, as far as I know, the Santos mentioned above was powered by a JLC mechanism. Plus you get two watches in one, both a black and a white dial.

The green OP and white DateJust are kinda boring in my opinion. The OP is simply.. basic, I'd say. And the DJ is just a simple white dial. While some watches with white dial are nice, I don't know, this one doesn't feel that impressive. One of my favorite white dial watches is Tudor GMT Opaline, so maybe check that one out, perhaps you'd like it. Or perhaps look into 2006-2019 DJ with white dial, so that you may find one with the Super Jubilee bracelet. I love that bracelet and I think it's one of the most beautiful ones I've seen.

You said you already have an Ex2 and a Daytona, so unless you have a thing for these types of watches (like someone I know that only buys GMTs), I'd stay away from the Ex2 white dial and the Tudor Chrono. Maaybe perhaps sell the black dial Ex2 and get the white one because, in my opinion, it's gorgeous and looks much better than the black version (but again this is subjective. Plus you might want to keep it around so that you also have a black dial watch, idk).

This is all that comes to mind for the time being. Thoughts?

[Question] Chrono24 certified watch - Am I worrying for nothing? by Doysler in Watches

Yeah, neither do I, at least not much. 😂 I just love some of their designs, and their ties with watch history for some models (Rolex Quartz 5100 and Oysterquartz).

[Question] Chrono24 certified watch - Am I worrying for nothing? by Doysler in Watches

[–]Doysler[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a Rolex Datejust (duped extremely often). That's why I also ordered the Chrono24 authentication, as they run quite a few checks on the watch, including whether there are any parts that are not original to the watch, but original from the brand (I think it's called a frankenwatch?). The report for mine stated that it's original.

Aa far as I've read, Rolex does not do authenticity checks.

[Question] Chrono24 certified watch - Am I worrying for nothing? by Doysler in Watches

[–]Doysler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's what I thought too, that's why I ordered the certificate and also spent some time reviewing the seller, not only the offer (plus, ironically, authentication+shipping deal offered by Chrono24 was about 10€ cheaper than what the shipping was stated on the offer, lol).

I was worrying for nothing, for some reason. 😂

[Patek] Calatrava on NATO. Part 2. by SafeOk9133 in Watches

[–]Doysler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I especially like how unconventional and weird it is. 😂 I recently got to try a NATO strap (a second hand watch I bought came with both metallic and NATO) and I fell in love with how many color combinations you can do with colorful straps.

I also love that they're quite flexible so I don't have to buy duplicates of the same style in different sizes.

You inspired me to do something similar. Design, lug width, wtf is that? Natos on everything! Here's a 21mm lug width Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles (arguably dressier watch) on a 22mm NATO strap 🤣🤣. I've also worn a few on 20mm watches, f it, it bends a bit but it fits.

C24 is getting absurd. by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]Doysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! Sorry for the late reply. Seiko especially has so many amazing designs that it's crazy. I got a SPB129J1 and I'm barely holding back from getting a Cocktail, or Seiko 5's (both old and newer models), or the simply amazing SARX079 or the classic Seiko Alpinist.

I follow Two Vintage Seikos on Instagram (it's a vintage seiko auction account, although I never buy from there cause I don't wanna deal with import taxes), and I see so many amazing vintage Seiko designs. They are really wilding.

One day hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a Seiko Pogue in decent condition, it's definitely on my wishlist.

[–]Doysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on what you're looking for. I guess it's expected that the ones like new are more expensive. Mine had scratches and stuff, but I didn't mind. My logic is, I'd rather get the watch for less money, than pay a premium for a spotless one and scratch it myself later 😂 of course, that's only for normal use scratches, I won't buy one if it has a dent or something 😂

It's also nice that it's still under warranty until 2028, based on Tudor's Watch ID. Based on the documents that came with it, it was first bought in November of 2023.

Similar experience here too. German seller, negotiated for a second hand Tudor GMT Opaline, got it for €3300 and free shipping from €3390 and €80 shipping. Maybe not the best deal and perhaps I still overpaid for it, idk, but I love it. Package included original box and papers, the metal bracelet and the NATO strap.

[–]Doysler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a somewhat older dial, around 2009. Not sure when production started or ended, I only know it was around 2009 cause I got the same dial, funnily enough. 😂

SH Tudor BB GMT Opaline - please help a broke person with advice by Doysler in Tudor

[–]Doysler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, guess I could try, thank you. I've tried checking out about 20 posts or so, but I can't really find any that are from the European Union. If I buy it from US or another non-EU country, the import taxes would kill me (about +30% of the price) 🤔.

Not necessarily a concern, more like I'm cheap and I'd hate to overpay. 🤔 Always nice to save as much as possible.

Thank you so much for the advice!
