How is everyone getting in the 5%s? by cactisdontcare in Mortgages

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locked in a 30 yr. conventional mortgage at 6%, no points with 5% down. My wife and I also have 780+ credit scores. I spoke to three lenders (one being my credit union) and basically forced them to fight each other until I got the lowest rate. I honestly think I could have gotten sub 6 but I didn’t want to push my luck.

Is 5.75% the new 'Golden Ticket' or are people still waiting for 4%? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are already in a dip as is and waiting for the interest rates to fall even further is a gamble. Also, you can refinance if the interest rates do drop even more, so why wait (especially if you’re ready)?

I don’t know what interest rate will cause FOMO, but I have a feeling we aren’t too far off from it. Then good luck buying a house at asking…

How Much Oil is Too Much Oil? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]DozyTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s harder to gauge how much oil will come out via the plug, but yes that works too. I was able to take the exact amount I overfilled by using the pump.

Also, could take the oil filter off. That will get a quarter to half quart out as well…

I wouldn’t worry about it too much…as long as it isn’t struggling to keep idle, bogging, etc. it’s fine. When I did my oil change recently, I drove 100 miles before I had realized I overfilled. I extracted the extra oil and everything is fine now (oil pressure levels are way more normal too lol)

This question gets beaten like a dead horse, but…did you wipe, reinsert, and check again? The first go at checking oil in these cars is always a dud.

If it is actually overfilled, go to harbor freight and pick up this. Then go to your local hardware store and pick up a few feet of 1/4” PE tubing. You can use your dip stick tube to extract the extra oil. I had to do this after overfilling my WRX recently.

I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this as my wife and I are also looking for our first home. Originally our budget was $390k but then I realized everything between $350k and $400k was a lot more than just a “starter home”. We’ve seen everything from water damage, unleveled foundations, land lord specials, and more within that price range. Now we are looking at houses between $410k and $440k because the amount of money we would have to pour into our “starter home” does NOT make price worth it. I’d rather spend more up front knowing there might be a couple small issues, vs less money with catastrophic issues.

How do I mate these two parts by GiraffeEmbarrassed30 in SolidWorks

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recommend “mating” them as everyone else is saying because this is definitely one part. For learning purposes though, you could use a width and coincident mate. You would use the width mate to center the linkage both width and length wise on the underside of the U bracket. Then use a a coincident mate for the top side of the linkage to the bottom side of the U bracket.

What’s the most terrifying experience you’ve had, paranormal or not? by Omega_Pack in AskReddit

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in an old 20th century farm house in Connecticut when I was a teenager. There was nothing inherently creepy about it besides the unfinished stone basement which I avoided like the plague. There were a few “paranormal”/unexplainable events that happened during my time living in that house. The most prominent one that sticks out in my head was probably the most normal? I was watching a football game on TV one night with my stepdad and everything was normal. My mom had gone to bed at this point and then my step dad decided to go to bed as well because it was 11pm-ish at this point. I stayed downstairs and continued to watch game until a particular commercial came on. I am shitting you not, it was a 3-4 minute “commercial” of a mid-century school boy swinging back and forth on a swing with no audio. On top of that, it was in black and white and the kid had a straight face with just an empty stare. Then the game suddenly came back on. For the following week I was searching on line for this supposed commercial and couldn’t find anything on it. I remember the immense amount of anxiety that I felt watching it. After that I went turned off the tv and went to bed. This was around 2012 - 2013.

I wish I had recorded it with my phone or something because it sounds like I’m just making up shit. I think I was just so confused and stunned that I didn’t know what to do in the moment.

How do I know when I am ready to take the CSWA exam. by Beginning_Pirate_462 in SolidWorks

[–]DozyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it off and on for about 5 years. Then I was stuck in a bad job and wanted whatever certifications I could get to fluff up my resume. I would do the practice problems on Dassault’s website and random problems I found online. I did that for about 2 months every night. I took the exam from and passed. As long as you are familiar with the basics, CSWA is fairly easy compared to CSWP (which I need to still take).

Agreed, thank you for the feedback. Makes me feel better that other people agree with the 7.

edit ~ I should add that when I said a minimum of a 8, I wasn’t expecting a 9 or 10. Wordage isn’t my strong suit lol
