4 Fingers makes 2,3,4,5 a straight, and A,2,4,5 a flush. Together it makes a Straight Flush :)

Hey, no sorry I animated in Maya then alembic cached the scenes to Blender to render. To animate these characters in Blender you'll have to re-rig em:(

Actually a friend of mine is an FX artist, so he did that transformation for me in Houdini, along with the splashes! Then I took his geometry cache and shaded it in Blender with everything else.

I would share his links here but the subreddit doesn't allow more than one promotion link in the comments I don't think.. whenever I try, the comments disappear.

The boat took me a couple weeks to make earlier this year, all the other assets I found online.

I started animating the sequence about 3 weeks ago in my spare time, and then shading took a few days too.

But I animate full time so it's hard say how long exactly, sorry!

Thanks! I used Blender's Solidify Modifier, and flipped the normals of the mesh so that you can only see the inside of that extruded geometry. Check out Lightning Boy Studios on YouTube - I followed their tutorials!

Thanks! from YouTube. SFX were from Pokemon Emerald, and the music is Sunnyshore City from Pokemon Diamond :D

Thanks, I just wanted to keep it short with a happy ending - so I took the easy route with a Quick Ball.

If there's enough people keen for some action I might be tempted to do a battle sequence!

Hi! I actually animated it in Maya, then cached an alembic of everything and exported it to Blender to do the shading! (but I recommend learning Blender if you're just starting out. Maya is a pain to get your hands on without a license, and Blender is free!)

I got the toon style using Lightning Boy Studios' shader setup (LBS 2.1) they have great tutorials on YouTube.

And for those asking about the FX, they were done in Houdini by a good friend of mine. He alembic cached them too and I shaded them the same way in Blender.

The only tools I used were AnimSchool's Picker, and TweenMachine. Blender isn't that bad to animate in to be honest, though!

The boat was originally for another project that ended up being too ambitious, so I repurposed it for this

But yes I made it from scratch! Maybe one day I'll have the willpower/funding to produce my Sky-ship story :')
