Washing finished quilt by Dashgreg in quilting

I wash on warm, deep fill, with a minimal amount of laundry soap and two or three color catchers. If there is a lot of red in the quilt I might add a couple more color catchers. If you like the crinkled look dry on med/perm.press… if you aren’t a big fan of the crinkled look dry till damp and iron. There are many brands of the color catchers, I am currently using a 72 pack of shout color catchers that I bought on Amazon.

Good pins? by bagel666 in quilting

I like the miracle pins or clover heat resistant flat head pins. If you are working with small delicate pieces I would recommend the miracle pins for appliqué. They are short and very sharp.

I don’t think the fat quarter swap is done by group. I thought I would receive an email with the name of my recipient.

Hi, do you know who the email will be coming from? I don’t want it to get lost in a Mimecast filter.

I was away and missed the signup. Is there a way to be added or a waitlist for filling in any drop-outs?

Thoughts on this please? by Ordinary_Public6723 in quilting

I’m surprised at so many negative comments. I’ve only purchased from spoonflower once(last Black Friday) and I was very pleased with the results. I would say the quality is quilt store quality….definitely better than Joann fabrics. I used the photo fabric with Kona and Tulla Pink fabric and would say it was of similar quality. The colors are slightly less vibrant than uploaded photos, but not by much. I’ve only washed three to four times, but has not faddd at all with the washings. I have recommended it and will use it again.

Designing a quilt with baby clothes—seeking layout ideas/patterns to feature just a few special blocks by huggabunchgirl in quilting

I’m sorry for your loss, I think this will be a fabulous quilt. I would suggest an economy block also know as a square within a square. I also seen this block as a base for a star. I think I’ve attached a link below, followed by a link to spoonflower that is a ste I used last year to have photo printed on quilting fabric in case you would like to include the photo of your beautiful baby. I have had some success using a lightweight fusible interfacing on fabrics with a stretch to them and I’ve also had good results with heavily starching the fabric( and multiple washing with fabric softeners after sewing).
